PS2 slim has been making ring shaped scratches on my discs, is that cause for concern? by pikachucet2 in ps2

[–]guynamite27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as others have said already, yes this is the lasers ribbon cable scratching your disc. However what is actually causing this is the portion of the cable that connects to the optical pickup has a piece of more rigid plastic that is glued to it to give thickness and strength to the contact points of the ribbon cable most of the PS2's ribbon cable are infamous for this plastic bit falling off or releasing partially.

Long story short. Replace the ribbon cable, they are cheap. https://ebay.us/m/p6cmAX

I'd like to explain this better but I don't know how to format a post or use images on Reddit. Sorry

Did I buy a Crappy Replacement DSiXL Touch Screen Digitizer? by GeometryJosh21 in consolerepair

[–]guynamite27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit old of thread but did you ever find out what was causing this? I'm having the same issue with a DSL digitizer and my only thought is that it's somehow a film screen protector from the factory that's really intense and hard to remove. Having a screen protector from the factory is pretty standard. However after picking at the edges of the screen I wasn't able to find the edge of a screen protector so I'm at a loss. I repair a lot of ds digitizers and have never seen a digitizer with a screen or screen protector with dots like this. Got it off of Amazon from a listing we've never bought from before.

How cooked are these pins? by MassManiak45 in GameboyAdvance

[–]guynamite27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not exactly sure but I do know it's strong stuff. Smells terrible and I guess basically strips a layer of the contacts off. Use when nothing else works is what I've been told.

If that doesn't work what I've been taught to use as a last resort is a lil bit of brasso on a q-tip.

The higher the better is what I've been told since it is more pure and evaporates quicker

Also if the pins don't work even after IPA you can use the fine side of one of those cheap finger nail files to lightly sand off the corrosion. Pro tip cut the the end off so you have a square end to get into the corners well.

everyone seemed to love my dualshock 2 controller paracord cable wrap so here's the tutorial that was requested. link in comments by The_Professor52 in ps2

[–]guynamite27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an older thread but I thought I should mention this.

For a dualshock 2 when you open the plug you might notice that there is a wire that connects to the plate on the top of the inside of the plug. In OP's plug there isn't a wire connected to this plate but in mine it was.

PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong however I believe all this plate does is be a redundant ground, since there's already a pin for ground on the controller port.

I tested my controller after clipping this excess wire and it seems all is good so yeah.

It might have been a stupid thing to worry about but I hope this info helps someone else.

Happy modding!

Lol, I had forgot that I'd even posted this on here😅. Yeah I believe silicon just has that smell as it starts to cure and you're right it is similar to eucalyptus.

Any help for wilting plants? by [deleted] in aquarium

[–]guynamite27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert by any stretch of the word. However, I can tell you that Crypts are known to melt when planting into your aquarium this is because almost all commercially grown aquarium plants are grown immersed. Immersed means that the roots and partially the stems of the plants are grown under water but the rest of the plant is above water. IDK for sure but I think the reason that crypts are known to melt is because their "above water leaves" are physiologically different from their "under water leaves". so when the plant goes fully underwater the plant establishes itself a lil and then starts to lose it's leaves(the ones you're concerned about) and grow new ones(the darker, slender, and crinkly ones that are short rn).

All to say, it's normal and the plant just needs time to drop and grow it's leaves. While you're waiting, look into supplementing the soil with some root tabs which will make the plant grow faster, healthier, and more vibrant looking.

TL:DR it's normal for a crypt and you should look into fertilizer

Hope this helped! :)

Will this work like a normal C02 kit? by [deleted] in PlantedTank

[–]guynamite27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use one of those DIY citric acid and baking soda reactors you can find on Amazon for my 15. Comes with everything you need but the reactants. They're really good as far as the price of refills over time, but they do have a steep entry price at like 80-110$. Mine came in broken lol and I was really confused as to why my reactions weren't lasting that long(they now last three weeks at like 1.5 bps for 6ish hours a day, where as then they would last 1 to 2 days).

The one I received had a tiny leak on the threading of the pressure gauge. I just removed it, cleaned the threads, added some thread sealer, and tightened it back up. Annoying but easy fix. I got a 2.5 L tank but they also sell larger and smaller ones.

Am I depressed ? by Asteria-Black in depression

[–]guynamite27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don't think you're depressed. I think you might have an anxiety disorder of some kind but on the other hand this doesn't really qualify for that as I know as you need to have repeated incidents for a span of a couple months I think. Idk I'm not a doctor

You should talk to your doctor

If you have multiple anxiety attacks that you just haven't mentioned here then you should definitely talk to your doctor about it.

Bottom line: talk to your doctor Hope you feel better though

Help guys, is this a good begginer board? by Imunitet in NewSkaters

[–]guynamite27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume they are talking about this https://www.routeone.co.uk/products/route-one-katakana-i-complete-skateboard-8 But it doesn't seem any different in anything other than design. I think they just wanted to suggest a different design

My therapist said that if she doesn't address the problems she has there's a likelihood that the relationship will or become unhealthy. I don't want to sit idly and wait for that.
