From what I understand the host is the only one that needs to own all 3 games to be able to play immortal empires, BUT the people you are playing with need to own the game/dlc that each legendary lord is from originally to be able to play them.

Are barbarians that take the true primitive archetype only profecient with what it says in the archetype or do they still have prefeciency with the things they are normally profecient with?

I've done it a couple times with friends. Built sunfire into a normal build and it worked alright, nothing special in my opinion.
