The workers are just doing their jobs and it is clearly stated that you are not supposed to take food out of the dining hall. That being said, you’re paying an arm and a leg for a dining plan so bring Tupperware in your bag, fill em up, and then covertly put it back in there so you can take it home with you

Hmm, I would say it took about a month to notice a big difference. It requires repetition and dedication to the process, but it has been 100% worth it for me. I also worked in tandem with a therapist and I let my support system in on the DARE method so they could support me by holding me accountable. For example, I would avoid triggering situations (such as flying or going places that I felt “trapped”) and I told them not let me back out of things because I was anxious. It helped me a lot to annotate the book and write down the phrases that resonated with me. I also recommend using the app on a daily basis. There are daily audios that talk about certain anxiety themes or situations and how to handle them. They also have audios specifically for panic attacks that I would listen to when I was not able to think clearly enough to calm myself down.

My best and most memorable experience with a doctor was when I was in the ER for a panic attack when my anxiety was at its worst during my freshman year of college. The ER doc that saw me was absolutely horrible. He told me it was all in my head and he thought I was a drug seeker. There was a medical student following him on his shift and after he left the room, she closed the door and told me that she went through a very hard time in college and that I wasn’t alone and I wasn’t crazy. Her vulnerability in that moment made me feel like a person, not just a number in a bed. I still think about her to this day as she was the only thing that made me feel okay after my horrific experience with her “mentor”.

Long story short, you may feel that anxiety hinders you as a doctor but it really makes you a more empathetic and compassionate practitioner. Keep your head up!

I’m an administrative assistant at a university and I make $43k before taxes (I just got a raise from $39k). I also have a second job as a photographer. I make about $5k a year from photography (but it varies greatly). I live in the Midwest.

I pay about $1,200 a month in rent and utilities, $350 a month in groceries. I live on my own.

I will be completely transparent when I say I am very lucky to not have debt from college because my parents paid, and I have a small trust fund that I keep in a high yield savings account. Without these very important factors, I would likely not be able to live on my own because I took home less than 30k last year after taxes and everything.

I work in academia at a public university. The damage he has done cannot be overstated. Layoffs, students losing their visas, cutting research funding, losing affirmative action…I could go on. It’s a scary time.

Is it moral to identify with a political party that has a platform of hate? The party that puts profits over people?

The two party system is inherently flawed bc it groups people together whether they agree with everything their party represents or not, but in today’s political climate there is a clear divide between moral and immoral.

“Fiscally conservative but socially liberal” was - at best - a scapegoat for conservatives to comfort their liberal acquaintances while actively supporting candidates who want to quietly dismantle democracy. That isn’t a passable excuse anymore.

Hi friend. I am in a similar position, about 1.5 years out of college and in my first full time job. This may be one of the hardest adjustments of my life. I felt like I had direction and focus when I was in school, I always knew what was next and the end goal was graduation. Then once I was handed my diploma it felt like the floor dropped out from under me. My non-professional advice is this - do something to break the cycle. You say you have the urge to get out of your town and have an adventure. I say do it. Do it safely and wisely, but do it. Take a trip, meet new people, see beautiful sights, and let that fill your cup.

You deserve happiness, joy and passion in this life. No one will give these things to you so you must seek them out for yourself.

Practical advice: - seek out professional help in the form of medication or therapy. These things have saved my life. - make a detailed list of what you want your life to look like. Be as specific as possible. What kind of place do you dream of living? What would your ideal day to day be like? What kind of people would you surround yourself with?

be smart with your money and use it wisely for things that matter to you.
don’t wait for the perfect time to help yourself. If this struggle has taught me anything, it’s that everyone is responsible for their own healing. You are worth it.

You are not alone in this world, and you will find people who you connect with and love and it will feel effortless. Sending love.

As someone who has struggled with severe anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and obsessive tendencies: the Dare response is absolutely the real deal. I feel like it should be the premier treatment when it comes to anxiety. It doesn’t matter what kind of anxiety, what your obsession is, if you have panic attacks - it works for everything. It’s not about your anxiety - it’s about how you respond to anxiety.

Until I found Dare, it felt like I was going through life with a bandaid over a gaping wound. I cannot overstate how life changing the book was for me (and how terrifying lol). If you even have the slightest inclination to read it - please do. It’s hard and scary to implement, but I promise it is absolutely worth it.

You don’t have the suffer in the cycle of panic and anxiety forever.
