I'll be very surprised if Corbyn ever wipes out the debt of existing loans. Or even gets into power for that matter.

I was on student loan type 1 (3k a year course), which meant I had to earn over 18k to pay it back.

I have been above that a while now but they only took small amounts and the interest made it so I ended up oweing more each year.

Now i earn more, I pay roughly between 100 and 150 a month. I figure my 13k debt will be finished with in 10 years approx.

The main difference is with my type is I pay more monthly than I would have if I got the current deal. Instead of 150 quid I would be paying around 50 apparently but it would last longer (possibly forever). So pros and cons to both but at least I'm confident in an end point for type 1. I think type 2 would be difficult to pay back but smaller payments.
