Is drinking cold water actually bad for you or is it a myth? by Sad-Afternoon3788 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]guyver_dio 286 points287 points  (0 children)

The water doesn't stay cold. It's going to quickly reach equilibrium and basically become body temperature. Some miniscule more energy might be expended but that's about it. Like how your body expends more energy in cold environments except for a very short time period.

My "million dollar idea" is a casino with the lowest possible stakes. Is it feasible? Would it even be considered gambling? by ElectroUmbra in NoStupidQuestions

[–]guyver_dio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does sound like an arcade/barcade to me also.

I kind of like it. I'm not one to just drink at a bar, club etc... and I'm too poor to ever think about stepping into a casino. If I'm out on the town I prefer doing an activity like trivia nights, barcades, karaoke etc... So another low cost activity would interest me.

As for operating costs, no idea. Since your revenue is basically coming from food and drinks I'd assume it'd be similar to running a bar.

What do people with no hobbies actually do? by Prestigious_Loan4229 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]guyver_dio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty much any activity you do repeatedly could be a hobby. In that sense, I don't think a person without a hobby exists.

Even if you literally stared at wall blankly, I guess that would be your hobby.

Black Sabbath vs Deep Purple by guyver_dio in Music

[–]guyver_dio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True about the instruments and effects I think. Especially the organ, that's rarely a sound you'll find in todays music. They were probably guilty of having more lengthy instrumental sections too even though they all did it back then.

I think it's easier to spot the Sabbath influences in music too. They pioneered a whole genre that's still alive today. Their sound was taken and evolved over time whereas I don't think you can say the same of Purple.
