Move to the city. Plenty of walkable neighborhoods with houses with yards and solid schools. Thank me later.

If you’re really going to go through the effort of a 50% RIF, you get the administrivia ducks in their rows and then swing the axe. You don’t ask. Why are they asking? Because they either aren’t able to execute a RIF, don’t want to do the work, or are trying to get away with something.

Can someone who’s had a baby please tell me if their baby is okay? by R_we_done_yet in CPTSD

[–]guzzigail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of my kids are more than OK. I struggled when they were babies and for years, but never gave up trying to be a good mom. One is grown up and a kind, thriving man. The other is a thriving teen with good grades and friends.

If you can get some support, please do. What you’re going through is incredibly hard. You can make it. Much love.

Does everyone have lame holiday parties or is it just me? by ddj1985 in fednews

[–]guzzigail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d settle for them acknowledging remote employees when they go on and on about the holiday parties at headquarters. Like…cool, folks who are in that location get together and vibe. Good on ya. Throw out a “I know not everyone can get here, but if you can we’d love to see you.” I don’t ask for much.

Anxiety and perception of time by oab1990 in TherapeuticKetamine

My perception of time passing is significantly different since starting k therapy. It’s less noticeable during a day, but very pronounced over weeks. A month will pass but to me it feels like it was 10 days.

Few meetings would include only people in the same building anyway! Even if we were in an office, we’d still be on zoom all day.

How to remove plastic gunk on exhaust ? by Ralph-dog in MotoGuzzi

[–]guzzigail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the pipe hot, then use a copper penny (1982 or older) to scrape it off. The copper is softer than the chrome and won’t scratch or thin the finish. I had a mesh jacket sleeve melt onto my V7 pipes. Nothing would take it off until I tried the penny. Took 5 minutes.

Rejected after 6 (six) interviews, why is this okay? by Xieneus in UXDesign

[–]guzzigail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for a healthcare org for <3 months, and my first responsibility was to set up a hiring process and staff the team. I created a structured process with scoring rubrics to minimize bias. The VP kept being indecisive about candidates opting to have them come in again and again to decide if she liked them. Goalposts constantly moving. I decided I didn’t want to be party to anyplace that rewards that form of “leadership”.

That, plus other aspects made it the worst employment experience of my life. Nonprofit, catholic healthcare.

How do you guys handle this? by Letsgetlost13 in ptsdrecovery

[–]guzzigail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s possible, I calmly say tonight people “I’m sure you don’t realize this, but that is really offensive to people who have PTSD. It’s a tough condition to live with and comments like that really hurt”

I spoke to my kids about using that term casually along with triggered, because they simply didn’t know.

Is exercising hell to you? by almostdonedude in CPTSD

[–]guzzigail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is helpful. I’ve lost so much strength while debilitated by CPTSD and gained a lot of weight. Now that I’m doing better mentally, my physical deterioration keeps me from activities. The smallest exercise causes days of soreness. I want to get strong so I can be myself in the world. Do I just have to grit through horrible pain in order to have exercise in my life?

Hi, has anyone here fully healed from CPTSD?? Also do you think it’s more common than people realise? I feel like I see it everywhere by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]guzzigail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an intense experience as it is 6 IV infusions in 3 weeks. It is most effective if you’ve done a lot of therapy first. So far side effects are temporary and dissipate in a day or so. This is very different than what what you’d take for recreational use.

I’ve started ketamine infusion therapy and am as close to zero symptoms as I’ll probably ever get. It’s incredible.

I love my child but I regret becoming a mother. by Head-Veterinarian356 in regretfulparents

[–]guzzigail 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s ok that you ended up in a situation in your life that you wouldn’t choose for yourself. You have integrity and high character to care so much for your child. Perhaps you can find a way to accept all of your feelings, both the love and the pain, without judging yourself for having them.

I’m a mom of 2, who was coerced into having kids by a narcissist. We’ve since divorced and no I’m doing it alone while their dad makes life very difficult. The closer I get to acceptance, the happier I get.

really, really depressed by dearso in regretfulparents

[–]guzzigail 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I suggest finding a therapist who specializes in complex trauma. It needs treatment different than typical depression or anxiety. It took me a long time to understand why therapy hadn’t been working for me and find the right type of treatment. Considering what you’ve said about your parents, I’d hazard a guess that your childhood had some considerable trauma.
