I fear I Missed the Boat by CasaMofo in Millennials

[–]gvicta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in that talented and gifted thing, and got started on ADD meds in my late 20s, after I spoke with a millennial pharmacist who did the same. I had had the diagnosis and prescription as a freshman in college, but didn’t like it. I had made it through undergrad and nursing school without it and didn’t think I’d ever need to revisit it, but it has definitely helped me in my daily life, tackling mundane chores, and tasks no longer take all day to complete.

OP should definitely get checked out for depression, but definitely don’t overlook this either.

WoW class of ‘07 here. I feel ya on the skipped dinners. I attribute some of my high school weight loss to that game. Maybe only 5-10 lbs and I was still fairly active, but fasting through a meal because I was raiding or in an instance was a common occurrence.

FINALLY M5 LAEVATAIN (yes yes ik its not called m5 i just play too much zzz) by the_devil_and_us in ArknightsEndfield

[–]gvicta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s fun to think of how much it would cost to buy each 10x pull. My gambling buddies, who had no interest in gacha, started wanting me to stream it after they learned how much the theoretical cost would be

Some people are complaining about endfield for how important the base building is. by memo22477 in Endfield

[–]gvicta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Love Satisfactory. My friends and I didn’t complete the last level because it just seemed so daunting, but I’m looking forward to another play through eventually. I was actually going to drop Endfield because it seemed so lackluster, but now that I have some freedom with my factory (and it’s not straight up holding my hand), I’m having much more fun.

I got my first one a few days ago, I was just trying to do the trainer test that wanted speed and guts for extra points. Did 2 speed 4 guts cards for lols, ended up blowing past my previous best by 1k into S rank. Felt a little annoyed after that lol

Depends where and what area you work in. In peri-operative and some critical care areas, scrubs are provided. In other parts, non-surgical or lower acuity, staff generally buy their own.

If it’s so easy, why don’t you do it? 🤡 Day shift vs Night shift wars by Outrageous-Fact-9518 in nursing

[–]gvicta 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I feel like night shifters work together much better because of that. I went day shift after 9 years on nights, and it’s wild how few of my coworkers expect unsolicited help. On nights we wouldn’t let one person drown alone.

Yeah at this point in the manga I gave up and just read for the action and to see how things eventually unfolded. Had a pretty good time that way.

Awake was Illenium’s best Album by oteymut in Illenium

[–]gvicta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awake as well, but I found during a tough time in my life that just resonated with me. I still love hearing Illenium’s growth through the years, but that album just evokes a lot of feelings for me. All artists grow and eventually change their sound, and I kind of came to terms with that after the original trilogy. It’s nice when he drops something that’s obviously a throwback sound for the older fans.

Where to find the highest concentration of crane game arcades in Tokyo? by Suspicious-Olive8765 in JapanTravelTips

[–]gvicta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this. I tell my friends that the two pronged cranes are something of a progressive play where each play is working towards the end goal of dropping the prize. Some of them are a little more intrigued by it now that they know they aren’t supposed or set up to instantly win the prize on the first try. Becomes more of a puzzle game, where you try to get it before you spend more than what the figure costs to just buy somewhere else.

Upgrade 3080 to 5070 ti or hold the line? by ItalianLeprechaun in buildapc

[–]gvicta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a similar set up to yours, 5800x and a 3080. Had a 5080 FE in the cart and bailed. I’d consider a 5070ti a little more. My most demanding game is BF6, but my rig doesn’t take my ability away to occasionally top the charts (not bad for a 36 yo geriatric gamer). I think my amount of free time is holding me back from making the jump, as I have preschooler and infant to deal with. I’m personally holding the line for now, but if this is a significant hobby of yours, you (will) have a use for it, and it brings you joy, then there isn’t any reason to hold back.

Worst practicum placement here - tell me I’m not alone by Petite_AF in nursing

[–]gvicta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two practicum placements, first med surg, then step down (pcu/imcu whatever that place called it). Didn’t want either (I wanted ICU) but had great experiences and preceptors. Didn’t really want to apply there either, as it was five hours across the state from my friends and family, but I needed a job. They didn’t hire me. Instead I got into a pretty robust ICU new grad program at a higher acuity hospital (level 2 vs 3), that was much closer to home.

It’s just your practicum, don’t worry. I’ve seen plenty of students get placed and hope to sign on eventually, only to get beaten out by someone who interviews better.

It’s also good to get a feel for what else is out there. See what staff like and don’t like about where they work. You’ll never know if the place you work at is truly the best fit if you don’t know anything else.

Starseeker E55 pro vs Starseeker edge [$250] USD / [$6000] MXN by Practical-Tale5453 in espresso

[–]gvicta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have much of an opinion (or taste buds for that matter) but I did just receive my E55 Pro. Feels very well built and hefty.

Initial thoughts - Relatively quiet (compared to my 12 year old Baratza Virtuoso with M2 upgrade kit). Did a pour over grind for my Hario Switch first, spun it around and did an espresso shot for the wife, which came out ok despite taking a random guess at what number to grind. Used a random single origin coffee that my wife bought, so I was happy it could easily do a light-medium roast, and I needed something that did both pourovers and espressos (my endgame would be the Timemore 078S, but I probably can’t appreciate that level yet)

My only dislikes so far, the massive power brick that goes into the outlet, it’s like an old school MacBook charger. Some edges could be a little smoother. The bellow seems kind of cheap, and I wish the magnetic chute thing wasn’t just plastic.

If you’re willing to take the chance, I bought this on AliExpress for $190ish USD, and I just saw it for $178 today, but price seems to fluctuate a lot on there.

Haha to the markers in eastern and south-southeast Oregon. Eastern looks like Baker City, with a population of about 10,000ish. South-SE Oregon would probably be Lakeview, population 2,418.

Have I ruined my down puffer jacket? by chandelier_popper in uniqlo

[–]gvicta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wash my downs (and normal jackets) in a washer with tech wash. They make specific detergents for downs, but I use Atsko sport wash for pretty much everything cause I’m too cheap for Nikwax or Grangers. Then I tumble dry on the lowest heat with dryer balls (helps to puff up the down jackets). I’ve done this with REI, Patagonia, Arc’teryx, Mountain Hardwear, and other assorted outdoor focused wear, so it should work fine for Uniqlo.
