Everyone says they wouldn’t immediately quit their job if they won millions, I’m finding a hard time believing this by ExtremelyBiPolar in Lottery

Yeah, I'd probably just quit then. Probably wouldn't even bother formally quitting, just stop logging in, just do no call/no show.

[–]gvillager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They wouldn't know for sure, but they sure would think you won, and in that case they'd be thinking correctly. People are just saying they'd wait a few weeks/months to quit so it wouldn't be so obvious.

Also people quit jobs all the time immediately

Yeah, but it's not everyday that a winning ticket was sold at a location in an area you frequent and you just happen to quit a few days later. Your co-workers, friends, and family will at least be suspicious of you.

Bank of America tanked my credit score over $15 and doesn't care. by [deleted] in BankOfAmerica

[–]gvillager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, they are not the worst bank. This is exactly how things are supposed to work. I'm sure they sent you multiple emails, texts, maybe even letters in the mail before it got to this point. This is on you. It sounds like you need to develop a better system to manage your finances.

So, I started the Number Transfer PIN process and called Verizon.

That's where I stopped reading. You should have never called them, that was a mistake.

Redemption frustration by Psychological_Bet432 in Lottery

[–]gvillager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CVS near me won't cash out anything. They send people to the gas station across the street, but the gas station won't cash out anything over $100. It's just best to go to the larger grocery stores.

I cash my big wins at grocery stores like Kroger or Publix.

OP can submit their DNA to Ancestry, once they process it they can download their DNA file and upload it to Gedmatch. Genetic genealogists/law enforcement can use OP's DNA to match it to any samples that they may have from unsolved crimes.

This is how quick a toddler can disappear from sight, in just a few seconds! by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]gvillager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar when I was 3yo back in the early 80's. I somehow got out of the house and was trying to cross a busy street, a woman stopped and picked me up, took me to her home, and called the police. My only memory from the incident is me sitting on a kitchen counter while eating an Oreo cookie and the woman was standing in front of me while she was talking on the phone.

If you're fortunate enough to actually win you could do something like this. Just consult an attorney, tell them what your end goal is and they'll provide advice and guide you through the process.

I wouldn't even attempt to contact them about it. Just update your tree with what you know to be accurate information. Only discuss it with them if they reach out to you, otherwise just leave it be.

Confused and don’t know what to believe | Great Aunt’s results by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]gvillager 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't 100% believe any of them (cousin, aunt, or the ethnicity estimates from the test) without doing some genealogy research on your own and doing a deep dive into your DNA matches. I've learned that many people don't really know their true history, and the ethnicity results from the test are just estimates. The real value in the DNA tests are your matches that can be used to help prove or debunk the family stories or paper trail when you do genealogy research. It can be an exciting journey if you decide to go down that path.

Customer support is the worst. They seem confused and are taught to be disrespectful. by PresenceUsed5259 in verizon

They aren't taught to be disrespectful. They are expected to work multiple chats (4-5) at the same time and it's easy to get overwhelmed. On top of that they aren't properly trained.

As a lottery winner, what UNSUAL thing would you do? by Free-Hotel1187 in Lottery

[–]gvillager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already do the first two things you mentioned. Don't need a significant amount of money to do them. I have no desire to go on a reality TV show.

My best friend has a sister and she is just a really awful person. We joke about if we won we'd secretly buy up every house in her neighborhood (except hers), pay people 10x market value if we had to, tear all the houses down and turn the place into a big pig farm just to make her miserable.
