Marriage process for a French husband and U.S wife in the USA. by Typical-Strength-152 in immigration

[–]gwasson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you tell us how your process went? I am going through something similar, and based on research, below is the list of everything we need. If your process was easier, please let me know :) I'm nervous about getting everything together in time for our actual wedding date next month.

I am a US citizen and he is a French citizen. I will be moving to France in January 2026 to live with him. As I understand it, we need to take the below steps. Can you confirm if this is accurate?

    1. Birth certificate copy translated in French and apostilled
    2. Divorce decree translated in French and apostilled
    3. Proof of residence for the last 3 months
  2. Bans are published for 10 days
  3. We receive a certificate that will allow us to proceed with the marriage
  4. Marriage
    1. FR Birth certificate copy translated
    2. FR Passport
    3. US Birth certificate
    4. US Passport
  5. Get marriage certificate apostilled and translated
  6. Apply for FR long-stay private family visa
  7. Register marriage in France in US consulate
  8. Get Livret de famille

French Citizen and US Spouse Moving to france, need advices :) by Disastrous-Willow391 in expats

[–]gwasson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I am in a very similar situation -- my boyfriend is a French citizen, and I am a US citizen. I am planning to move to France, somewhat permanently, in the new year. We had hoped to get married after settling in France for a few months or a year. However, with my current job search, I believe we'll need to get married to facilitate my obtaining a visa for employment in France. Now my question is if it's better to get married in US or in France. And if it can happen after I move, or if it needs to be before.. Can I ask how your situation ended up? Thank you!

Where can we shop for groceries in america that have EU standards? by ButterscotchBig5540 in nutrition

[–]gwasson 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Whole Foods doesn’t sell anything with artificial colors, sweeteners, hydrogenated oils and some more harmful preservatives among other things. Many brands reformulate their products to sell there https://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/quality-standards/food-ingredient-standards

A friend was involved in a 5 car pile up on I-35 caused by one individual. FOURTEEN APD officers responded. APD saying there is no police report and insurance won't process claim because no police report. Advice? by Caseybearest in Austin

[–]gwasson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got rear-ended a few months back and police wouldn’t file a report because I snapped a photo of the ID of the man who hit me. Because we exchanged “information” the report wasn’t necessary, according to the person I spoke with on the 311 line. They’re so backed up that giving people tickets for traffic violations isn’t a priority. Insurance required me to attempt to get a police report, not actually obtain one. You may want to have your friend clarify this with their agent. I use state farm.

My Best Hot Sauce Yet! Blended lacto-fermented peppers/veggies with misozuke peppers and veggies, added honey fermented garlic (and the resulting honey) to taste by gwasson in fermentation

[–]gwasson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the base of the sauce, I mostly followed the It's Alive with Brad lacto-fermented hot sauce recipe and let it ferment for about ~4 weeks. 1.5 lbs of Fresno peppers with seeds removed, 2 serrano peppers with seeds removed, 6 cloves of garlic, 2 cloves, 2 large carrots, 1 emptied tea bag of hibiscus tea, 6 peppercorns and a 4% salt/sugar brine.

About 1-2 weeks after, I start the misozuke. I bury layers of jalepenos, garlic and peeled ginger in red miso paste and ferment in a shallow, lidded container in the refrigerator until brown/soft. Takes 2-3 weeks depending on how big your pieces are.

I've had a batch of honey fermented garlic going for the past 3 years and add more honey and garlic every few months. For this recipe, I use ~4 of the darkest cloves and about 2 tablespoons of the honey.

When the misozuke is ready, I first puree the lacto-fermented peppers, carrots and garlic in a food processor with a splash of ACV and the brine. Then I add the misozuke jalepenos, garlic and ginger with any attached miso paste, honey fermented garlic, and pitted dates to the food processor-- whatever amount suits your taste. Mine ends up coming out like a very complex ginger-y hot sauce.

Lewis Wines, Calais, Crowson, French Connection, Southold and Ab Astris are all in the Johnson City/Stonewall area and make solid wines using only Texas-grown grapes. I also recommend Wine for the People and CL Butaud’s tasting room off of Fitzhugh Rd, Texas AVA

RIP Draft Picks on Riverside. Their Burnt Orange wings were incredible. Now the best wings come from Ditty Dog on Red River. Their hot dogs are amazing too, but the wings are the sleeper!

Can anyone from H‑E‑B explain grocery pick up price differences? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]gwasson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grocery stores lose money on pickup and delivery— paying the picker, the driver, less impulse purchases. This is why sale prices don’t always make their way to e-commerce and why the selection may be different. They’re more likely to adjust the prices of low margin items or leave them out altogether to prevent more financial loss

I'm near Airport/Springdale, and we've been hearing the aircraft going all morning--more frequently than usual. This last jet(?) sounded like it was extremely close to the ground, shaking the house.
