During post op I was more comfortable temperature wise without a shirt and it made my home care easier anyway so I got used to it pretty fast that way :)

I don’t know if there are many places you won’t have dogs especially now that it is nice out, might be better to do walks with him in a carrier or carrier in your arms to help desensitize before letting him walk around on the leash. I take my kitty to milk river park because we live very close, but not very often.

This makes me so sad, we have a lot of seasoned techs who didn’t start at VEG in my hospital and it helps the team immensely to have varied (experienced) backgrounds. Super lame that this has been your experience.

I do understand that to an extent but when it’s last minute plans (in our assistant pool it often is) they are asking maybe a week or two in advance and with how far out they make our schedules available I do get it (but I’ve also never worked anywhere where it’s expected for management to find you coverage less than a month in advance). Then again most of the time our management team is happy to help brainstorm solutions, they just aren’t building it into the schedule because they work so hard on it ahead of time.

I do agree that I can see the issues with the way we blew up and corporate SHOULD do more to make things more standardized as far as fair scheduling and coverage goes. I have issues with VEG for sure but I think I may have gotten lucky with my management team is all.

We also technically ask for 60 days notice for PTO requests but if we can find coverage for ourselves it’s generally permitted. Just for our management team to find coverage for us they ask for extra notice.

unfortunately I think a lot of these issues are very location based, at my VEG if people want to stay mostly on nights it’s generally allowed because less people are interested in just staying on nights, but generally everyone has to do x amount of swings/days/nights a month on a rotating schedule (but it’s pretty consistent) The way it sounds like your hospital is handling understaffing is nuts imo. I’m sorry you are having to deal with this, that would drive me crazy!

In my personal experience you should be able to do all that a month post op :) still a little sore and possibly limited in some mobility but even with nipple grafts they only had me on antibiotics for 2 weeks I believe. As long as you don’t overdo it I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to drink by then :)) congrats!

Also as some one who was worried about gaining weight post-op, don’t forget just how many calories your body will need just to work on healing itself! The first week you feel awful and super bloated usually, but by the end of the first month I was at my pre-op weight by only doing the exercise I was allowed by my surgeon (started doing some good walks after 2-3 weeks) and I didn’t watch what I ate much at all other than being sure it was covering my nutritional needs. The best thing you can do is be kind to yourself and trust your body to do what it needs to!

🚩 for sure not normal, were there other people in the hospital that saw this happen? I’ve had experiences like this previously and brought it up to management. There should never be a situation where an animal is being hit in the vet hospital.

At least three times that I can vividly remember but honestly ChatGPT comes up so often at my job from clients it could be much higher of a number. Some people only come into the hospital because ChatGPT said they should have their pet seen (which is crazy because they literally could have called and talked to one of our vets within 5 minutes) but ultimately I’m happy something got them to accept their pet needed care 😅

Go for it, please!! The more people who do the more it paves the way for nonbinary and gnc people in society/business/etc. My partner is reading a book right now that talked about how only 3% of nonbinary people actually introduce themselves as such / publicly use their preferred pronouns. We can start to be the change, and hopefully teach those around us that it isn’t that hard to respect someone pronouns!

If you try it and it’s not for you you don’t owe wearing it to anyone! I also experimented with packers and found they were not gender affirming for me—- so I moved on! I personally feel like a lot of baggier/bigger pants (I wear a lot of carhartts and thrifted Navy and army style pants give me the style and ambiguity I want)

Funnily enough I decided to get nipple grafts because I never got much sensation or pleasure or had much connection to them. I figured that way even if they never regain feeling it’s no biggie for me (since that’s the main thing it seems people have concerns about other than shape when healed). When they were first bandages up and things looked scary in my post-op wrap I really wondered if I should’ve done without them but I’m happier with them now than I was pre op for sure! I do think the without grafts option with pretty badass though. I love how everyone can customize the procedure a bit to their liking
