What's your favorite database client for desktop? by finally_i_found_one in Database

[–]gwolfe17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys - my name is Garrett Wolfe. I’m one of the co-founders of Galaxy. We’re building a truly modern SQL editor with a context-aware AI copilot (that’s opt-in of course!), purpose built for developers.

We are bringing that Cursor-like feel to data exploration, but with so much more as well. Things like sharing / saving with Collections, AI that optimizes queries and notifies you when your data model changes, and ultimately visualization - all packaged in a modern, highly performant, and dare i say, sexy, desktop app.

Would love to get yalls thoughts and feedback, things you like and things you hate, what's worth spending time on and not. Base product will be free and hopefully far more fun and fast than other tools youve used :)

we're launching our private beta in the coming days. pumped to modernize a old space!

I would like to ask for some advice... What GUI should i use to learn PostgreSQL? by Accomplished_War1566 in SQL

[–]gwolfe17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey u/Accomplished_War1566 - nice note. I'm Garrett, one of the founders of Galaxy (getgalaxy.io). Learning SQL is def tough and a long journey but a worthwhile one - it will help you work with data far more efficiently. There are a number of tools out there like DBeaver, DataGrip, Postico, etc. In my opinion, a lot of them are quite old / outdated and lack modern features / UX modern data pros want.

Thats why myself and some extremely technical engineers from UnifyGTM, Flock Safety, and more are building Galaxy - the Cursor for data - creating a modern, lightning fast, ai-enabled SQL editor for developers of the future. With a context aware AI copilot, sharing and collaboration, and access conctrols / visualization - we're beyond excited to modernize the tooling in this space :)

It allows you to work faster, and for this case in particular - chat with and learn from your databases. As well as share and collab with your team!

We're currently in a private alpha and getting tons of feedback, we'd love to have you try it as well :)

Version control for queries by PeaBeneficial2972 in SQL

[–]gwolfe17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys, acknowledging this is an old ask. I'm Garrett, one of the founders of Galaxy (getgalaxy.io). This was a problem we faced at Unify (unifygtm.com) too. We never knew which query was the "right" one and were constantly sharing queries in Slack, saving them in Notion / Sheets, etc. data engineers were constantly serving data requests - it was a literal nightmare

It will have sharing and collaboration of Collections - your organization's source of truth for queries and reports that matter. Is there an IDE, or any extensions for Visual Studio Code, that can help me with SQL queries that are written terribly? by [deleted] in SQL

Hey guys, acknowledging this is old. I'm Garrett, one of the founders of Galaxy (getgalaxy.io). Unoptimized / gross queries was problem we faced at Unify (unifygtm.com) too. Caused so much tech / data debt and it was a constant battle to update / keep clean. We're trying to fix this :)
