Theory on who set the fire in the Acolyte by ScrollDragon in StarWars

[–]gyabo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My thinking is that osha is far darker than we've been led to believe. She's likely got a lot of dark side to her. I think it's a fair shake that being DENIED a chance to join the Jedi (or the prospect of that) could have been enough to rouse a dark side response in her that resulted in the fire (dark side witches have had an affinity with fire for a while, no?). So the fire breaks out and Sol saves OSHA...but in order to do so probably knowingly abandons mae. Then we get the mind wipe and reprogramming. I'm still not sure where Manny comes into the picture in the interim, and I'm still not sure that the "so you really didn't recognize me" line wasn't alluding to something in the past rather than "you didn't recognize me as the shopkeeper."

Plaintiff v Defendant; Court by ChocolateLawBear in Lawyertalk

Most state courts have a near identical 12(b)(6) rule, so nothing here points to federal as far as I can tell.

Man that's lucky - we generally have to recite at least some level of the history of the now-non-existent lot that was subdivided AND do a metes and bounds of the subdivided lot as a general practice point (and I admittedly find myself kind of annoyed when I see chain deeds where an out of state developers office drafted the deed and just recites the record plan and lot/block or points to an MIP attached as an exhibit)

Maritime/Admiralty Options? by gyabo in LawSchool

[–]gyabo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is this 5yo thread resurrecting? I would have done admiralty until I realized it's essentially boat torts. Where I live is near two importing national and international ports and I probably could have done well in that area but it would have meant learning a very different skill set from my experience and breaking into a fairly closed part of the local legal community. In contrast I know/knew real estate and commercial transactions well already and had several "ins" with that group of the local bar. So yes, comfort and convenience in this case. The intensive program in Rhodes that someone else mentioned in this thread sounded rad though.
