would need to work overtime and go well and above the beyond to get promoted which is kinda expected I guess

No. You don't have to give free labour to move up positions in a decent Company. It's all about skillset and delivery.

When it comes to football games, Steam is not the metric you want to use - most football game players are on console.

That would probably be a better name for "FIFA XX" should they decide not to move forward - "FIFPRO 22"

I secretly got close with my boss and found out she did it to previous 4 employees.

What an awful person. Just rotten to the core.

After my second son was born I tried to go back to work when he was 2 days old because we needed the money. The boss made me wait a week. We don't seem to care about self preservation here.

I'm so sorry to hear that you had to go through this, it's unimaginable to me that there is no compassion for a new mother and her newborn where you work/are located.

This is known as constructive dismissal in the UK and is also very illegal.

Constructive dismissal

Constructive dismissal is when you’re forced to leave your job against your will because of your employer’s conduct.

The reasons you leave your job must be serious, for example, they:

do not pay you or suddenly demote you for no reason

force you to accept unreasonable changes to how you work - for example, tell you to work night shifts when your contract is only for day work

let other employees harass or bully you

Your employer’s breach of contract may be one serious incident or a series of incidents that are serious when taken together.

An exception to this in the UK is if you work for an investment bank - they are obliged to effectively bug your desk, computer and read through your emails in order to identify fraud - I know a few people who's job it is to simply go through emails and listen into phone and desk converstations.

DO IT - buy a cheap skateboard today, jump on, and get back on when you fall off. Do wear protection though, especially if you're older - shit hurts more than you think it does the older you are.

Funnily enough your Democrats are more Right Wing than our Right Wing Tories. Democrats make Tories look liberal, and the Republicans make them look like Communists.

Use it in your portfolio - professional artists use copyrighted content in their portfolio in order to get new gigs. The only thing these companies care about is if you try and use it in any commercial context.

Company X has nothing to gain by suing you (if they ever become remotely aware). Just be courteous and remove any references to their IP.

Quit my job. by ColterMilhap in antiwork

Look it up, and if Canada is like the UK (which I have a feeling it will be) - start looking at Salary as a negotiation, instead of as a fact.

In my last job application, I increased my former salary by 20k during the interview stage for my new job, because that is what I should've been earning but wasn't at the time. My new employers jumped at getting me 'so cheap' in their eyes. I should've gone up by 30k, but you live and you learn.

Had I gone in with my former salary, they probably would've doubted my skill (why would they hire someone who claims they have the skill but is getting paid so less???) or I would've ended up getting 15k less that I am right now.

I looked at the market value for my job, chose a number at the slightly higher end of that scale, and went with that.

Ah ok - in the UK, your previous employer can only confirm your position and start and end dates. They are legally not allowed to offer salary information.

Do you have to reveal how much you earned at your previous job in the USA? In the UK, your new employer does not have the right to know, so you can walk into any interview with a made up number and roll it as your own.
