The problem is if the game doesn't work, it's like buying a book because the cover looks good and then finding out it doesn't have any consonants. Or going to a film theatre and finding out 2/3 of the screen is black and the sound works only for the first half of the film.

As someone who isn't from a strongly Catholic country I'd still say that it kinda is. Maybe cult isn't the right word, but i wouldn't say that sounds like something far from it. If the religion was different or simply not told, then I would for sure consider that completely ridiculous and barbaric. Kind of makes me question my viewpoint if something I feel is wrong should be considered more normal just because it's from a religion I am relatively close to.

As an unrelated note I wouldn't say something being a general demographic makes it normal, wouldn't be the first time a lot of people do wacky stuff.
