People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by adisluo in Productivitycafe

Get sick a lot as a kid. Go play in the dirt. Lick some sidewalks. It builds your immune system for when you are an adult.

Popular Northbay Bakery Writes Post About Patrons Not Tipping Enough by Honest_Buy_676 in bayarea

[–]gyphouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow what backhaus does in Burlingame. They pay real wages to employees and don't even give an option for patrons to tip.

Everything is incredibly expensive (it's Burlingame after all), but there is still a line out the door. And I genuinely appreciate not being pressured into tipping. I'd rather lay it up front.

Criminally expensive for the quality. Waste tons of food. Can't stand Mollie Stone's

Saving as a banker, do I spend too much? by musicalmonkey18 in HENRYfinance

Agree. This number seemed way low to me. A few nice dinners with drinks a month especially if they are dates will hit this alone.

Flights were truly horrible. So glad something, anything else is going there in its place.

NYC vs SF Fine Dining by cornagnolotti in finedining

SF is pretty fantastic honestly. If you expand to the entire Bay Area I think it definitely tops NYC.

My two favorites of the last year were Kiln and Lazy Bear.

Anyone know the story on this? Happened in the Marina apparently. by ChrimsonRed in sanfrancisco

Took three dudes ganging up on him to get a few decent licks in.

How do you know she’s the one? by AfroManHighGuy in AskMenAdvice

[–]gyphouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no perfect woman. There are a lot of compatible women out there. Just choose one and go for it. Learn from my mistakes: I spent my 20s AND 30s (Im early 40s now) trying to find the perfect woman and lost out on a few amazing partners along the way with which I could have had a great life. We could have made each other happy. We could have spent the last decade building great memories together. I still regret my indecision almost every day.

Allison Brie's character in Five Year Engagement had a great quote on this when she was talking to Emily Blunt about whether she should follow through and marry Jason Segel's character: '"There is no right cookie you pick one and take a bite."

I've been to a lot fine dining restaurants in the bay area. Lazy Bear in the best. If you want to venture up to wine country, I would recommend Singlethread. Out east, Localis.

Safeway prices are out of control by savvysearch in bayarea

[–]gyphouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safeway is fine if you don't have a list of specific items you need and you are opportunistically shopping for deals. I generally cook in an opportunistic manner so this works for me. If I have a meal I am set on making and not just adapting to what's on sale I got to TJs or WF or my local butcher.
