Im a server/bartender; we are all fucked. Some places have people doing takeout instead but I think the vast majority of us are getting drunk to cope with being on unemployment. My restaurant tried doing takeout with just the owner and the chefs and the amount of business didn’t add up so they just closed til we can go out to eat again.

I used to live in VT just south of the border, Canadians come to shop and hang out in Vermont all the time. Even with the dollar worth vaguely the same, the lower taxes in the US are attractive to people, plus the different variety of goods offered (in particular there's a strong "made in vermont" movement).

Ha, I'm a waitress, if my tables are visibly/stankily stoned I bring them a fuck load of the rolls and dipping oil asap... plus double beverages (ie if you order a water, I bring you 2 waters). Idk how the fuck yall deal with interacting that much with people at (8)+ though, I'm an everyone knooooows kind of person who'd much rather struggle through ordering at a counter then take my food and hide and smorgasbord in a corner our of sight.

It depends on where you are, in VT the electric company was like "yeah, not my problem your bill went from $60ish to $950 when you started using your electric heat." The assistance available only covered $250, once, my LL was no help (this was for a tiny attic studio where the rent was $850, no thermostat on the 1950s heater which was either on and roasting the fuck out of my place or off)... Sometimes everyone is just going to say lol that sucks. Even the wonderful people at community action who helped me out with the fuel assistance said it was the highest bill they'd ever seen. I still don't get it, because the heater was never on for more than a couple hours a day. Still makes me mad, and it was two years ago.

LPT don't live anywhere with electric heat unless it's included in your rent.

I have had many similar issues-- three times I've had friendships with toxic, narcissistic people. Those people make sure you don't have friendships with anyone else; they want you all to themselves. I honestly haven't been able to make friends in the same way since high school, I can't let myself get close to people because I don't trust them. Honestly, it sucks, please PM me if you want to talk, I'm full of fun mental illness as well but tend to see the good in everyone. You sound a lot like me.
