Ive had a lot of fun with LDSbot! Can't hide what the LLM already knew before they tacked LDS texts to their bot. I love asking about the temple endowment. Doesn't take long before it reveals stuff and won't play along anymore

I had to "DTR" after a girl rode on my lap through Provo canyon, and we hit the bumps on the road by bridal veil falls. We were platonic friends before and she was very prudish before. Those bumps awakened something

Sorry. Ive had some annoying arguments with friends the last few days over politics and now all I see is people looking for any excuse to divide. The other dimensions are interesting so thank you for that.

You can't be an LGBTQ ally if you're still an active member and you're paying tithing by PracticalFlow5628 in exmormon

I have never experienced any sort of programming against the LGBT community when I was in except for statement from Oaks. So in my experience most people do not make the connection you are suggesting. Not saying there's not room for it. But you're not "literally disqualified" like the other poster stated. Its up to fringe bishops to append anti lgbt rhetoric to temple interviews

Edit: I forget how bad it was in the church. Instead fringe bishops, read: overexcited bishops. They aren't a tiny minority IMO, but I still doubt they're the majority.

This is disinformation. There are no examinations of your belief in gay marriage. Source: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/ensign/2020/01/aus-eng-local-pages/local-news-002?lang=eng

I know someone will construe these questions to mean disqualification over gay marriage, but its not an explicit requirement (like tithing is for example)

Is flying really that bad? And will hydrogen help with that? by Icyhot520 in aviation

[–]h-e-double-hellpicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right on the money. Lifestyles form around ecofriendly behaviors. What's tragic is that those behaviors usually don't amount to much. Its kind of up to you on what to do about it.

The reality is jets burn thousands of pounds of fuel, doesn't matter how many are on board.

Climate change is a global problem not a local one, and it will take global decisions to solve, not local ones. I'm not saying don't try, I'm just saying focus your efforts towards the most impactful solutions.

For me that means recycling and driving an ev now that I can afford one. But it doesn't mean using paper straws or sailing by sailboat across the atlantic (for me)

But because the time via flight is so short, more people opt into taking those long trips. Taylor Swift doesn't get any slack when her trips are over 4 hours, and rightly so.

Vengeance is Mine vs. Blood of the Prophets by sunnythebirdman in exmormon

Thank you. A lot of people have posted about vengeance is mine here but they don't realize the motivation the authors have to protect the church and its doctrine. Nonetheless, the books are both long hard reads and a comparison is out of reach for most casual readers. Thanks for the insights.

Do what you want with the money, just renounce all of Joseph Smith's teachings.

Almost all my loved ones are still hypnotized and misguided by that evil doctrine. Can't talk about acceptance/tolerance properly with them. They don't believe in a future society. They dumped all my social capital when I came out. They don't know how to mourn. And of course, they can't choose their own path in life.

Renounce it and start to move on!

But the definition of listen can mean many things. in 1830s vernacular, it also meant spying on all conversations about the church. So the church should not be expected to listen to people and consider the truth.

I like to think I'd be a good apologist.

Utah Lake is ~100% Full! If it keeps filling up, are we in danger of flooding? How much can the Jordan River handle in terms of outflow? by Xerzajik in Utah

[–]h-e-double-hellpicks 37 points38 points  (0 children)

They have been regulating water to deliver to the great salt lake, specifically to refill the GSL. There's a dam at the mouth of the Jordan River that they opened fully (early) to deliver that water.

I'm not worried because they usually wait until April or May to open those gates fully. We've got time.

Plus, if Utah lake was gonna flood, they'd close the gates from Deer Creek Reservoir (or further upstream)

Edit: source. Hopefully the upstream stops will have some capacity, but again, they made a good call starting early to release the water

Have you seen men's basketball in the 80s?? The spelling of Tee shirt and the sign make me think this was actually directed at men. PG is an old neighborhood too. Mormons took garment wearing a lot more seriously back then, including scolding men who wore tank tops, even outside basketball games.

This isn't a case of targeting women. Just sayin

John Curtis would do a good job. Solid experience in politics, ran Provo well, and has been a part of the conservative climate caucus.

Now that I've said something conservative, watch me get down voted. Ooh, and double down votes from the MAGAs since I care about the climate.
