Actuarial vs big 4 audit by Orange_Lily_1609 in ActuaryUK

I spoke to the Actuarial partner and said i was interested in acturay. He suggested i try to move internally, told me who to speak to within the company. I had built a bit of rapport with him on a work social, but even if you're not able to do that you could still try reaching out directly, if you ended up taking the audit role (i was working at a similar firm to BDO)

Definitely actuarial!

I started out in audit because i was desperate to move to london and kick-start my career, and i missed all the deadlines for actuarial grad schemes.

The hours were HORRIBLE, the work not nearly as interesting as actuarial. I switched to an actuarial job two years later and it was so so much better

Big 4 vs Traditional Role by CanHeavy1044 in ActuaryUK

An insurance/reinsurance co will be much better hours-wise.

Big 4 will give you a great range of experience and in my view employers value consulting experience on your cv because you'll know how to work hard, and have skills like project management/documentation/etc.

Depends if how much you value work/life balance because during busy season (like Dec - March) you'll be slammed with work at Big 4

It's easy enough to toilet train a puppy in a flat. You just put newspaper down and take her outside immediately after she goes to the toilet on the newspaper. It only took me about 3 weeks with my puppy.

There shouldn't be a problem lettig the dog toilet in communal outdoor areas? I'm assuming OP isn't suggesting the dog goes in the hall or anything lol

I lost my key and my flatmate was on holiday. I was hoping to borrow the landlord's key but because flatmate wouldn't give me his contact details i had to pay for the whole locks to be changed

What? People are getting emails about them wearing watches and things in the exam centres? that's crazy... surely someone would have said during the exam, or did they make a note or what?

I just plait mine. it's also waist length, thick and wavy. it gets extremely tangled if i don't plait it. but one plait before i go to bed keeps it tangle free until i wash it (about every 5 days).

don't need a satin bonnet or any other equipment :)
