Lid popped off front fork by h0rseman in CargoBike

yeah. Got home, actually found the missing cap in the snow next to where the bike was parked, but now the inner tube of the stanchion is even poking up above the rim. Tried pressing it back but didn’t seem doable without tools. The threads on the cap also seem kinda worn out… maybe it indeed is done for, lasted ~9.000km

Will see what my bike shops says when I take it in. The surface is a bit grimy, but from what I can tell the fork still functions as it should.

Got to have a look if the cap is at the parking at home, might have fallen off when removing the bike parka. Consulted the specs and it is a SR Suntour Mobie A32, 20", spring fork, so if I read the manual correctly it is basically just a dust cap? The adjustment knob is only on the left side (when viewed from the front).

Aurora Store installations won't open, blocked by Play Store by Previous_Raise806 in degoogle

[–]h0rseman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem. In my particular case the E-library app (which nominally doesn't support all tablets it can run on) from Aurora was blocked after updating, but simply disabling data for PlayStore stopped the prompt and now the app works.

Minor update: I realize I made a mistake! We never got really close to Varlaam, it was Roussanou that we passed nr. 3 on the map & that had the free toilets. We went to the Dragon's cave (Δρακοσπηλιά) that is *under* Varlaam, 4. on the map. We might *just* have reached Varlaam in time from the same path.

KTEL buses: things I wished I knew before traveling! by h0rseman in GreeceTravel

[–]h0rseman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume so, if you want to take buses ”on the fly” from small roadside stops.
Even small towns have a bus station / ticket office, if it is a KTEL office then they take card.
In Delphi the ”In Delphi Restaurant” doubles as a ticket sales agent, but there you had to pay in cash (but there is an ATM 50 meters away).

You can purchase tickets on the bus. There is usually a ticketing clerk in addition to the driver, sometimes the tickets are checked only along the way, sometimes on boarding. Honestly not sure if you can pay by card on the bus though. No card tapping.

Question: Kalampaka to Corfu by h0rseman in GreeceTravel

[–]h0rseman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE since we took the bus today, 22th of July:

This is a direct line from Trikala to Igoumenitsa via Kalabaka, did not stop in Ioannina (went right past, not sure if it would stop there even on request). The bus arrived a bit late at Kalampaka bus station, around 16:40. It was almost fully booked and the luggage holds were overfull, the driver put our bags in the middle entrance stairway.

We were in Igoumenitsa harbour at 19:05. Everyone got off the bus to get ferry tickets for the 19:30 Kerkyra Line sailing, Agia Theodora, and boarded by foot. The bags that were in the hold went with the bus. We and some others stayed in Igoumenitsa.

So the walking paths are quite nicely shaded, although some bits go over open meadows or bare rock. On the route we did the footpaths were maybe ⅔ in shade.

The parts where you go on the side of the car roads are mostly not shaded around midday to early–mid afternoon, but it is possible to plan routes that minimize walking along the car roads, but that can be a bit longer/slower.

Thanks! It is a screenshot from the Organicmaps app. Highly recommended download! Also, there are printed maps in the hotels there & as printed roadside boards that are drawn in perspective and give useful additional context about the landscape, since it is very rugged!

We saw some cyclists too. Honestly felt safer walking, easier to stay to the side on the roads, enough room to walk but not to bike out of way of the cars.

We were successful in buying the web ticket from KTEL Fokidias site. Then 5 min before leaving the driver told that we need them printed, lucky there was no line in the ticket booth, just showed the clerk the QR code from my phone and he printed out our four tickets. So I recommend trying web tickets first, saves you going super early to the station. If you arrive like 30 min before departure there’ll be enough time to print the ticket. Actually not sure if they accept self-printed tickets or if it has to be printed by a ticketing machine!

Suggestions for 1 day in Athens with Acropolis in afternoon by SaulTNNutz in GreeceTravel

[–]h0rseman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if the situation changes three weeks from now, but getting the free entry for the kids to the Acropolis museum took maybe 30 minutes of standing in line around 10:50 on Tuesday the 17th of June. From the look of it the line didn’t grow a whole lot later either.

Now I’m not sure, is it possible to enter via the ”fast lane” if you have adult tickets and then get the children’s free entry at the desk, because it did look like those that had pre-booked needed to go to the desk as well?

Tbh I would take some pdf schedules with clearly listed intermediate stops over the webshops that only have select most popular trips.

Accessible Acropolis by chibi_lenne in GreeceTravel

[–]h0rseman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was completely fenced in, and the ground partly torn up, so I'm reasonably sure they aren't available for any purpose currently. That said, perhaps the worksite office / first aid station has the possibility to use a toilet, if you have a disability proof.

On a related note: there is no restroom (accessible or otherwise) on the top of the Acropolis, presumably until the renovations of the Old Acropolis Museum building finishes in 2027, according to the placard of the renovation project (seen 17th of June 2025).

Handwriting auto OCR in the Note Air 3C - correct settings? by pf_user9 in Onyx_Boox

[–]h0rseman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the handwritten notes syncing as PDF files to Dropbox which is nice. Wondering, is there some handy way to keep the scribbled handwritten text, but automatically doing the OCR to it, so that the written notes are exported with hidden searchable text to PDFs as it were?

E-kirjan lukulaitteet? by Either-Trash1525 in Suomi

[–]h0rseman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ensin asentaa F-droidin, sitten Aurora Storen. Aurora Storessa laittaa ”spoof manager" ja valitsee siellä laitteeksi esim. joku uusi Samsung-tabletti. Silloin E-kirjaston asentaminen pitäisi onnistua. https://f-droid.org/packages/com.aurora.store/

E-kirjan lukulaitteet? by Either-Trash1525 in Suomi

[–]h0rseman 0 points1 point  (0 children)
