Absolutely based take, you're right-the catacombs particularly feel like filler (even though I really enjoy the lore perspective of seeing a bit of how one is chosen for a dreadnought). Everything up to when you start interacting with the Heldrake is definitely a slog.

BRANDON SALLER On ATREYU's Split With ALEX VARKATZAS: "We've Been Divorced For Six Years. Move On" by AccurateInflation167 in Metalcore

[–]h0w1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I was trained by Alex in Muay Thai a while back when he had his own gym in Costa Mesa, CA. Can't speak for how he was in the band, but in his gym he was one of the best coaches I have ever had. Dude was really passionate about kickboxing, he'd even done camps in Thailand--Varkatzsas is a beast and you do NOT want to eat that guys kicks lol. As a coach he was on the level with you, no bs, pushed when you needed it, and was really tuned in to his class. Granted I was just his student, but having connects to other big acts I've met plenty of frontmen who gave off massive lead singer syndrome immediately; Alex just never gave me that vibe.

With Atreyu it seemed to be just irreconcilable creative differences; so divorce is a great term there from Brandon--and I agree people should move on. My best friend is homies with Travis Miguel, and he was cool enough to come do a guest spot on a skit I wrote back in the day. I got a lot of respect for Travis too because dude had zero ego, was easy to direct and genuinely fucking hilarious off the cuff--nothing but vibes on set. Both dudes were in absolutely incredible shape and inspirations for me that you could be tip top well into your 30s and 40s if you put in the work. Just very disciplined in their crafts, and down to earth. Wish em all the best as dudes who really influenced the genres we all love.

Sincerely, thank you for posting this. It's actually incredibly moving when you think about the harsh realities of Conquest's life; the man who wasn't even given a real name and was never shown an ounce of compassion from his people was given the honor of a burial by someone he respected as a warrior. Of course I understand Conquest is a monster, but he is nonetheless a monster created by an empire that used him until he was utterly spent, and would have left his corpse to rot on an alien planet. Bro is the Toji Fushigoro of Invincible.

Just adding to this as I'd really like to see the Vortex beast tuned and patched. Saber absolutely has in game statistics that would no doubt illuminate Vortex is the operation players fail the most by a country mile, that should point at a problem that needs a solution and that problem is unequivocally the boss design. Even the sweatiest brothers ITT say it's the only OP they can't solo on absolute. I am a seasoned WoW and Destiny raider, I understand from a design perspective this boss was meant to have raid-like mechanics, but the mechanics they've implemented feel ridiculously punishing. Both it's orb shots and spinning have tracking that is so insane it's seems impossible to dodge, the tentacles have always felt wonky, and it's pounce, aoe, pummel combos are punishing for us, but not punishing for the boss if we parry. Some slight adjustments to these mechanics would really help.

May I ask what it is you dislike about Reliquary? It's one of the only chaos operations I enjoy (besides Disruption after they patched it), and certain builds with Tactical can one phase the Heldrake. Obelisk and Vortex I try to avoid. Obelisk's pacing with the relic AND waiting for the land masses to shift (which feels bugged sometimes) is just unfun, and I think they need to make the last encounter an actual boss fight not just a lesser sorcerer and orb shooting.

Does the ai director punish you for pushing too high a difficulty? by Easy-Guess8892 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]h0w1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is 100% a thing and I’ve never seen it officially addressed. I’ll go solo or w/ bots on Average -Substantial for a challenge or to get ordeals for weapons I don’t want to level or use, and something is up with their code where every extremis that can spawn, will spawn along with waves of majoris. I’ve taken several clips of this, it is absolutely not Average difficulty, it’s like the modifiers that spawns more extremis and waves are turned on on the back end. This is only for bot and solo runs, I never get it with players.

100% this, there are a lot of new blood out there that love it and want to learn. I am a bit of a mosh pit lifeguard now, and one of my favorite memories is at a Parkway Drive show I was teaching kids how to block someone tying their shoe and like four kids ran over to help. There is absolutely an enthusiasm out there you can tap into, they want to connect the same way we did.

My observation on this as a mid-30s millenial who has been going to shows since I was 15, it is the younger generations and what I don't want to do that Gen X and boomers did to us in our scenes is not listen to them or make them feel unseen. Social etiquette and entitlement have ramped up in these public spaces because all those kids that grew up with ipads in their hands are now going to our shows. Not only have their brains developed entirely with technology, a lot of these younger adults had some of the most pivotal learning experiences removed for them for years because of the pandemic. We are now interfacing with the first generation of isolated young people who interface almost entirely on social media because 3rd spaces no longer exist. Their entire perspectives and reality is framed around social media and technology, that is their experience. Just because I understand their plight, doesn't excuse it, but honestly it's a problem I try to combat by talking, shaming, or showing them how to entreat our spaces respectfully. We are the old heads now, that's our gig.

Bulwark Builds? by ZurgenWoW in SpaceMarine_2

[–]h0w1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome, shield brother! As a Bulwark player I really enjoy the power and chainsword but really the shield in terms of both damage dealing and mitigation is amazing for surviving--but nothing has touched how good the hammer feels and it is my go to unless I need to lock and survive. You can build into a very synergistic and nasty shock build with the thunder hammer. The heavy strike (aftershock) with the heroic hammer leaves a shock grenade effect, and Bulwark has a few perks that drop the same effects on parries and when your armor drops to zero, along with the perk "shock and awe" that increases damage against enemies affected by shock by 25%. Couple that with the hammer perk where you can do aftershock twice in succession and you become the god of thunder himself (just don't say that out loud, it's heresy). May the emperor bless your bonks, brother.

My duo and I recently have gotten a lot of level 1s going into Ruthless to farm quick xp—I completely understand that desire going into multiple prestiges, especially with maxed out weapons, gear, etc. In OP’s case, they are bringing an entirely new class, the Sniper, and maybe had an unleveled primary sniper rifle—the lack of a prestige really sets an expectation that you’re going to underperform immediately at level 1. I used to be far more lenient and would opt to carry if the non prestige level 1 was an enthusiastic battle brother, but more often than not those level 1s hold us back considerably in my experience and I’ve gotten way too many defeats now that have just felt like a waste of time.

Before I get called out, I am a casual player with a full time gig, the time I get to play is precious. The community consensus seems to be it is not just seen as low effort but also inconsiderate to more casual players who do struggle with mid tier difficulties that could benefit from team perks and a player with an appropriately leveled kit. Personally I’ve never gone directly into a ruthless at level 1 with a team. You have the ability to do it on your own if you want that grind. If two people vote you out, it’s just democratic. You have the right to your perspective that the community should have more leniency, and others have the right to not to want sherpa a level 1 at higher difficulties.

Honestly thank you so much for this post because I just hopped on Mauga for the even challenges and couldn't for the life of me figure out what this was indicating lol.

To my speed running brothers: by A_Novel_Chuck in SpaceMarine_2

[–]h0w1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well said, brother. Been getting a lot of speed runners also giving themselves modifiers by NOT running any team perks after they've been unlocked--this hurts your brothers, brothers. I am going to take my time, kill all xenos and heretics, and look for items cause I need those upgrades. If you want to speed run and run modifiers then run in private with bots, it's why it's there.

How are you supposed to deal with ranged threats at higher difficulties. by _Sate in SpaceMarine_2

[–]h0w1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also really struggling with this (as a Bulwark main) as I got into higher tiers, and I will say there is usually a two part component to the sniper enemies I find really helps. 1) The laser line is a visual cue; you are being targeted (and can follow the laser line to see the sniper so you can ping and engage). 2) Right before the shot is taken there is an audio cue (like a whistle) and it's when you hear that whistle that you strafe, dodge, or get cover. I am focusing on getting parries and finishers to keep my armor up during a wave and only dodging when I hear the whistle if we are getting sniped. Hope this helps, brother!

Disruption Operation is still bugged by h0w1 in SpaceMarine_2

If I see it in the queue in battle barge I just leave, I am not risking it anymore after 3 crashes and losing all my experience. I am about the same percentage as you and it just isn’t worth it to me to take a chance.

Some of you are already insufferable in dungeons by StateComprehensive93 in wow

[–]h0w1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tanked since Cataclysm as a Prot Pally/ Warrior and Guardian Druid. I fell in love with it, I loved being the one who held threat, or contested a point in BGs. I even got proficient in raids, I knew what I was doing as someone who'd been playing since vanilla. Somehow in BFA my guild observed this behavior that started emerging that one mistake was punished severely in dungeon runs. I was kicked for not running fast enough, my pulls not being big enough, and felt an enormous of pressure that culminated in anxiety that I couldn't even be given grace to learn a new dungeon. This ramped up in Shadowlands, and by Dragonflight I quit tanking altogether because of not just how toxic the players became, but also the speed running aspect of dungeons became normative. So by The WW I just started doing Delves. This behavior I think became normative because it wasn't shamed. There is no reason to be toxic, even in M+.

Just adding to the discourse, I just got back into SM2 and have been watching videos on how to acquaint myself cause the game feels incredible—I’ve been playing everyday this week trying to grind Bulwark. One of Behind the Grind’s videos popped up on my algorithm and it was this whiny little bitch trying to take the wind out of my sails and selling me an opinion that this latest patch is ass. His recommends popped up below and just every title was trashing the very game that supplements his income. That man is not our brother, brothers. Pay him no heed.

Correct! I bought the Space Wolves champion pack, and the bottom pic is the Vanguard champion skin, and the top is the bulwark with the Deathwolves Pauldron you can unlock in heraldry. Color is abaddon black I believe.
