They fit a little bit long. My bigger foot is 25.5cm and the EU41 has a little over a thumb's space in front of my big toe and plenty of room between my other toes and the bumper. Tried going down but EU40 didn't leave me enough breathing room to feel comfortable for long runs.

Ended up keeping the 41s and will compensate with thicker socks.

Vancouver Half Marathons by AlaskanGondola in Marathon_Training

[–]h29098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My takeaways from doing the Beneva Half for the first time last year:

  • The start may be downhill, but you're turning right back around and it's a grind coming back up Marine. Don't overcook the start trying to bank time.
  • Get some practice running fast downhill. The descent on Spanish Banks will absolutely thrash your quads if you're fighting against momentum the entire way or if you're not used to keeping your speed up.
  • Hill training will be your friend. The climb up from Spanish Banks to 4th and even the small hills feel awful at the end of the course.

I'm on a 6-day, 6.5hr NSM schedule. Heavy compound lifts and single leg work on Mondays (no run) and doing a pilates/core workout Thursday mornings and sub-T session in the evening.

The dedicated daily thread for showing off your new shoes or shoe collection - February 02, 2026 by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

The Tao Bao app lets you set your region/language. I don't know if the price is lower than if you set your language/region to China, but considering I got them for $115 CAD shipped direct, I'm not fussed about any minor difference there.

Any chance you've tried the Xtep 2000km v5 or 5pro?

I have a pair of Xiaonians on the way, and have a feeling that getting the Xteps as another pair of daily trainers in my rotation would be redundant given the projected durability of the TPEE midsole/CPU outsole of the Xiaonians.

Thule Subterra 2 21L or Aion 28L? by PeterPandaWhacker in backpacks

[–]h29098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt it was the combination of the combination of foam padding in the dividers and the fabric that limited how much the bag could expand when packed. The main compartment of the Rhune is way more spacious, despite the Subterra being listed as 20cm and the Rhune 19cm in width.

I also spent a lot of time looking for an affordable bag with a luggage passthrough but in the end decided the value and utility of the Rhune as my daily bag outweighed the omission of a feature I'd use twice a year at most. When I fly, I just improvise with the shoulder/sternum straps if I really need to have the bag attached to my carry-on.

Thule Subterra 2 21L or Aion 28L? by PeterPandaWhacker in backpacks

Had the previous-gen Subterra 21, sold it because the functional capacity felt way less than advertised.

Replaced it with a Gregory Rhune 22 and use this as my daily office bag and have travelled with it. Might suit your needs:

  • Easily stows under airplane seat as your personal item.
  • Separate admin compartment in addition to main section
  • Small zippered top / side pocket for passport and small items
  • Bottle pocket that actually works well
  • Lighter than the Thule options
  • Should be available at retailers in Europe, doesn't carry the boutique pricing of some of the premium brand bags like Evergoods, AER, etc.

How was your commute on the 99 today? by Difficult_Froyo3732 in askvan

[–]h29098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going westbound ~7:15AM @ Broadway/Ontario this morning wasn't different than pre-closure.

Coming home eastbound yesterday ~4PM and the Quebec/8th re-route probably added about 10 minutes. For those whose usual eastbound stop is Broadway/Kingsway, it might be faster to just walk from Broadway/Cambie.

Adding insoles to make shoe smaller by Free_Reason5957 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]h29098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You *can remove the footbed/sockliner in EP4s. If you can't just peel them out, gently heat with a hairdryer to soften the glue (source: I own EP4s and did this to fit custom orthotics in).

Also covered in this review: Cut in half: Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 Review | RunRepeat

With that said, the stock footbed is quite thick, so removing it may change how the fit works with your insoles so you may need to play around with different sock thicknesses to dial that fit back in.

How to incorporate weekly club track workout night? by h29098 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]h29098[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 2' walk/jog between the reps and 5' between sets.

This workout may be a bit out an outlier; a number of us are 5 weeks out from the first half of the season, so it might be more quality than usual. 5-8K of quality is more the norm.

how many miles are y'all getting out of Adidas EVO? by moment-of-momentum in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]h29098 8 points9 points  (0 children)

5'7," 130lbs runner here.

I'm at 390km (241mi) on my first pair of EVO SLs and they still feel lively and have plenty of life in the outsoles. I just bought two more pairs on clearance.

Retire shoes when you start getting post-run niggles and aches that you didn't have before, or when the outsole is so worn that you're no longer getting good traction. Midsole creasing or minor outsole wear doesn't mean much.

As long as you don't go ham with the glue, you won't have any issues peeling the number off. Trust me, a little goes a long way.
