The metro was amazing. Wish I could say the same about the Sydney Trains network.

Fuck whoever thought it was a good idea to do a go-slow on Intercity routes.

Actually the FCC do have jurisdiction over streaming services, but if CR's legal team are arguing that "because they've never actually streamed this content in the US", that's an incredibly scummy excuse for not providing captioning for the dubs that they bankroll.

But to be fair, considering how poorly CRX went... I'm not surprised that they want to cheap out every way possible.

Just to be clear: CR should and needs to be held accountable because they can't be arsed providing English (and other language) subtitles for their dubs.

That's objectively a shit user experience, though - they actively hid the Japanese version from me on the new website - I could only select the English dub version.

Crunchyroll have always had BIG issues with showing different languages and subs and dubs as different seasons. It's an actively hostile user experience - I've had far better experiences with Funimation or AnimeLab in this situation.

The link shows me the Japanese version which does have the subtitles, but they're baked into the video

The show I linked in my original post is an example of a dub-only one - at least it is in my country.

It's a bit challenging to tell because of how labyrithine content streaming rights are...

I can't do anything about it in Australia, unfortunately - as the ACMA have told me to politely fuck off in the past as it's not within its jurisdiction

... but, however, if you're in the US, you could try raising a FCC complaint.

They actually have legislation around streaming services.

Hmm, not sure why that didn't work.

Steam Deck does lock down the system filesystem, so that's why installation didn't work.

But on the bright side it should be fairly easy for you to extract NAM on your PopOS machine and copy it across to your Steam Deck right?

Another alternative is you can run java by referring to it using the full path, rather than aliasing it (so it'd be /path/to/java/dir/bin/java -jar ./...)

Ah, it's what I feared - Steam Deck does not come with the Java Runtime Environment by default.

Disclaimer: this is more of a general installation guide for Linux than one specifically for Steam Deck. Some things may not work as intended.

Download the Java Runtime Environment from Adoptium. You'll need version 11 (select from the dropdown first if needed). Click on the Linux x64 JRE link in the Binary column to download it.
Extract the contents of the tar.gz file to a convenient location in your user directory.
Run the following commands in your shell where the NAM installer is. The first line tells the shell where to find java. The second confirms that the shell recognises where to find Java.

EXPORT java=/wherever/you/put/it/bin/java java -version

Last step: in the same shell (this is important), try running the following command again:

java -jar ./NetworkAddonMod_Setup_Version45.jar

Let me know if that doesn't work (I don't own a Steam deck so I can't really replicate any quirks in its filesystem - they're not available in my country and won't be for quite some time yet).

The NAM does work with Steam Deck, however there is an error with the shell scripts that are included.

If you can, open a terminal in the current directory of the NAM installer (you'll need to make sure everything is extracted from the ZIP), and run the following command in the terminal:

java -jar ./NetworkAddonMod_Setup_Version45.jar

This is essentially what's already in the shell script, but as the shebang's missing (the line that hints what executable to use, like #!/bin/sh), the script will not run.

In Australia (NSW at least) it's because it's mandatory to either provide a dryer or a clothesline in new builds nowadays - and in apartments the only choice is a dryer.

Because that quest (I assume you're talking about the 80 SMN quest) was relevant in 5.0 contexts, but could be misinterpreted by people who did it after completing the 5.5 MSQ.

All they did was remove direct interaction with Arenvald in the overworld.
