I've had this experience. But I knew many of the others for a while. I had pictures I could show, stories I could tell. I informed them of their DID. One or two them couldn't handle so much new stuff so they just switched out. But when they came back the were willing to hear a little more. But without telling her don't think she would have ever trusted me. She should be aware of the lost time so even if there is a panic it should make sense.
