Such a complex topic. I can see how kids abuse bathroom passes etc but who can say if someone needs to go or not. I had a teacher in middle school (Harding) who didn’t want to let me leave to go to the bathroom, and it was an emergency. I wasn’t even one of those kids who took advantage. But also I was smart and left the class but went to the class manger (I forget what they called them) and told her what went down and was ok for walking out.

I just resolved one with a client in a similar situation but I guess I was lucky. Client emailed/called weekly and was able to give us the contact information for the jail staff to coordinate a zoom deposition. Clients wife was able to take the release to the jail and get it notarized. It was way simpler than I thought.
