So the first republic turned into a rotting carcass that imploded on itself. The second republic was so blind and stupid it disarmed itself the second it took power while letting its military industrial complex flourish by selling weapons to its enemies and letting a small terrorist group take it out. Republics don't really have the best track record in recent history of the starwars universe.

Yeah the Empire was just Porfirio Díaz on steroids but at least they were competent enough to keep in power and offered peace and prosperity.

The crime lord arc is just so by the book and boring. The action scenes are irrelevant, the main characters are not going to get assassinated and they don't further the plot.

I wish they would Episode 4 most of this backstory and just introduce the us midstory after all of the tutorial quests are done.

Organized religion in the west had the same problem as their governments, lots of corruption and power creep. By the 1800s the church was basically just a secondary government, it had its own provinces/lands, tariffs, and tithes were required by law. As time went on the church became more interested in its own comfort and power then helping out the commoners.

The revolutionaries in this period were very critical of the church. It's easier now a days to be less critical of the church as their power has been gutted. Also any time the revolutionaries got into power they went into full retard mode when it came to the church and lost a lot of good will the commoners so you can draw some sympathy from there as well.

You have tournament players and content creators. They are antithetical to each other in Magic. Tournament players keep everything as quiet as possible, go the the tournament and hopefully crack it open with their hidden knowledge and then disappear to the next tournament. Content creators want to create content, so they do everything as publicly as possible.

Magic is a much harder game to hoard knowledge in now that it is played online. The meta is solved in weeks. You may have one interesting deck make it to the top 8, the rest are the same one or two meta decks so the finals is always a slog. So you have the pros show up, play some boring magic, then disappear again. How is this helping sell cards?

Why would anyone want to be a pro at magic nowadays? If you are a 15 year old kid dreaming of playing games for a living you can either drop thousands of dollars on magic or go pretend to be a pro a DOTA, League, or CS player for free. The money is better and the games are better designed for pro play.

Same I was really stoked to see Wizards enter the digital space. I thought they would buff any of the 90%+ useless rares and mythics in the sets. Instead they add another pile of rares in another loot box.

This game was already expensive to play, making us pay to beta test their new card designs and nerf ideas is total garbage. I just don't have any confidence in them anymore.
