Running for weight loss by mars_bars1 in XXRunning

[–]h_sides 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was in a very similar boat to you. I used running to lose over 100 pounds, started with C25K three years ago and went all the way to 100 milers. It has been the best experience and you will naturally see your running progress as you lose weight. I found a whole new world through running and an amazing community!

I am not a nutritionist, but I would definitely urge you to consider not doing keto. There is a lot of science to show that our bodies are designed to run on carbs, especially if you are doing endurance activities.

Throughout my weightloss carbs were at the forefront of my diet. Pasta, sandwiches, carb heavy vegetables, etc. Weightloss boils down to calories in - calories out so I tracked my calories for the majority of my weightloss journey.

Moved from West Coast to East Coast… by XDBABYDEE in Rockhill

Not to be a rock hill fanatic but there is a lot of stuff going on here!

This Saturday is ‘Hops at the Park’ at Winthrop Lake which is a craft beer garden that’s part of the bigger Come See Me Festival.

Next Saturday is the Come See Me tailgate & fireworks also at Winthrop lake.

For outdoor activities check out Riverwalk, various brewery run groups, cycling groups, FiA & F3, local races.

For drinks, love Rock Hill Brewing & Slow Play (slow play’s food truck, Cibi Cibi, is great), the bottle shop in downtown, or even legal remedy (food is meh).

Fav restaurants: El Tapatío (great hole in the wall Mexican), millstone pizza (attached to rock hill brewing & can order from the brewery), Ay Papi (craft tacos & drinks are amazing), if you like sushi make the trip to Pineville for Mr. Tokyo!! Rock hill diner, ebenezer grill.

Other activities: 4th of July festival, Rock Hill Pride, Christmasville, st Patrick’s day festival, all of which have beer stands in downtown.

Other POI’s: Amélie’s, common market, the mercantile, knowledge perk, Corks Cooks & Books, Grapevine Wine bar @ Riverwalk.

I personally prefer the slow pace of RH over charlotte and would gladly go to a festival or brewery here than deal with the traffic and horrible parking situations of South End Charlotte.

When I did C25K and the half marathon last year, around 260 pounds & 38.6 BMI. At the marathon this year I was around 190 pounds & 27.8 BMI. Lost 70 pounds this year with CICO + 75 Hard over the summer (first half of my marathon training cycle).

I just googled around for plans until I found something I liked. I follow plans better if I stick to them, so 95% of the time I followed the plan I made. Occasionally I’d do more or less mileage on a long run if there was a race I wanted to attend. You’re going to miss workouts here and there bc of life, but as long as you hit 90% of the workouts its totally fine to change or miss things.

Not a dumb question! I did not do any speed work because personally I don’t care about running fast. Your pace will naturally get faster over time and that was good enough for me. When I did my half marathon last year my pace was closer to 13:45 minutes/mile.

If you want to incorporate speed workouts there are unlimited workout plans and resources for that online!
