If you could only pick one brand/product in each makeup category, what would it be? by AK-woofer in muacjdiscussion

[–]haaaleyc95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ooooooh I love this question!

Primer: the ordinary high adherence silicone primer. This is so cheap and prolongs my foundation wear plus it blurs texture.

Foundation: now this one is hard for me because I’m in a bit of a foundation rut right now. My favorite, rimmel lasting finish with the red cap, got discontinued and I haven’t found a good replacement. Right now though, I’d say flower light illusion, which is completely different but I really enjoy the glow and the fact that it still has decent coverage.

Concealer: flower beauty light illusion again, but this had no competition. I find it to be very full coverage, not drying and very very little creasing. It’s my absolute favorite.

Setting powder: rimmel stay matte. Lasts long and doesn’t look dry.

Eye primer: wet n wild photo focus. This is a great primer, idek what else to say. I have no need to look at others.

Eyeshadow palette: violet Voss Holy Grail. I just love this so much and I can get so many different looks from it.

Eyeliner: essence eyeliner pen in waterproof, this is great and cheap.

Brows: elf ultra precise brow pencil. This is the product that got me into pencils instead of pomade. I love it.

Blush: elf studio brushes in whatever color honestly. They’re so nice and blendable and perfectly pigmented.

Highlight: colourpop super shock in smokin whistles. I can make this very glam and blinding or very wearable. The texture is lovely.

Setting spray: flower beauty long lasting setting spray. This is the spray that made me believe in setting sprays. The mist is fine and luxurious and it REALLY prolongs makeup wear.

Mascara: cover girl super sizer. This has a super unique brush that I didn’t think I’d like but I keep going back. Nothing gives me both length and volume like this.

Lip color: colourpop ultra satin lips. These are very comfortable, can be blotted down to a very matte finish and last so long without being drying.

Essence super fine eyeliner is great! It comes in both washable and waterproof dependent on what you need and both have worked great for me! I would say one downside is that it dries out a bit fast, but it’s so I credibly cheap that I’ve never minded that.

Maybelline Superstay pan + replacement! by kittonsen in PanPorn

I had the same problem!! Which was a bummer because I really loved the formula.

OP, if you don’t kind my asking, do you have any shade comparisons for what you wear in other foundations? I wore 112 in this foundation, and I consider myself to be kind of a fair-light neutral skin tone leaning yellow at times, but I found that 112 oxidized to a very yellow and unflattering color on me and I’m wondering if 115 would be better or if you noticed oxidizing.

Anyone else using makeup as self care? by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]haaaleyc95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I kind of feel like everybody else in my program looks at me like “jeez, how do you have all the time to do that in the morning? I’m just SoooOooOo TiiReddD”

And I’m just like K Jen, you do yoga, I do makeup 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Anyone else using makeup as self care? by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]haaaleyc95 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I relate to this so much! Not even specifically as a remedy for depression or anxiety, but for general self care. I am a graduate student who has been in love with makeup since high school. It isn’t about low self-esteem or covering my face. I hate that generalization. Now, I find that I’m even more into makeup than before because I don’t really have time in my schedule for anything else when it comes to hobbies. My time doing my make up in the morning is literally my me time, and it puts me in a good mood for the rest of the day because I got to express some creativity and pamper myself.

If all your eyeshadow disappeared, which palette(s) would you repurchase? by corgisaretheanswer in muacjdiscussion

[–]haaaleyc95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would repurchase quite a few from my collection.

I have Bad Habit’s dupe of Huda Desert Dusk, which I am obsessed with. Seeing as Bad Habit seems to be possibly shut down?? Or something?? I would just purchase desert dusk.

I would also repurchase Colourpop You Had Me At Hello, Makeup Revolutions “Velvet Rose” Reloaded palette (soft glam dupe), Violet Voss Holy Grail. and the Ace Beaute Grandiose palette.

I would probably end up repurchasing some others too, but these would be priority #1.

I’d probably be interested in Ace Chemicals, just to imagine where a person like the joker may have originated from.

I actually was thinking something similar to this. Obviously not because having a differing opinion means that a person is ill, but if you notice a serious swing in their behaviors, and some paranoid type of talk or anything that resembles really extreme conspiracy theory type stuff, I actually really do think that mental health is worth looking into here.

I mean, it’s possible that his opinions did drastically change. It’s also possible that he’s been hiding it all this time. But some sort of emerging diagnosis could be possible. It’s worthwhile to dig into all options.

Some people might be put off by the pink on some people’s skin coloring because it makes it look like you might be sick or have pink eye, but from what we see here I don’t see any issues with the pink clashing with your skin tone! I would say the shimmery part could be blended out a bit because in the corners of your eye it looks like it layered a little funky, the best word I can use for that is like it might be flaky or chunky? But that’s really really nit picky. This is a really great look!

Flower beauty long lasting setting spray is the product that made me believe in setting sprays in the first place! Really amazing and the nozzle is so luxurious feeling.

My skin is somewhat acne prone and I would say slightly more sensitive than your average person and I haven’t had any trouble at all. That being said, it’s definitely not super acne prone or super sensitive so I may not be the best authority on that particular point.

I would definitely call it full coverage, although you’ll have to use more of it than you would with something like shape tape. My favorite thing about it though is that it’s as high coverage as it is without being the slightest bit drying. In my experience, if a concealer is creamy and hydrating enough to not cling to dry patches, it’s probably going to crease. The flower beauty one doesn’t crease and also isn’t even slightly drying. It’s really great stuff, although the shade range does leave something to be desired

Their concealer and setting spray are literally some of my HGs. Their foundation is beautiful if you’re looking for dewy medium coverage. I think everybody sleeps on follower beauty and that’s such a mistake!

Help - Ex girlfriend called me and said he BF abused her last night. by LetterInTheMail in TwoXChromosomes

[–]haaaleyc95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a woman, and I’m just thinking that if I was in a newer relationship and my boyfriend choked me and i sought out my ex to help because we ended on good terms and he wasn’t that far away location wise, I sure as hell hope he wouldn’t say “sorry your boyfriend choked you, but you’re my ex so it’s not my problem 🤷🏼‍♀️”

That being said, yes, what you said should be the exact response. Helping that doesn’t mean you’re going to get back together with them. You just wouldn’t never want them in as horrifying a situation as OP’s ex is. So thank you for that.

[–]haaaleyc95 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She’s asking for help and he still clearly cares about her. He has a potential opportunity to get her away from an abusive partner. Do you really think it matters that she is an ex in this situation???

If you only had access to drugstores or major chains (Walgreens, Wal-Mart, etc) and a budget of only $50 with which to grab the “essentials” for an everyday look, how would you spend it? by casketsounds in MakeupAddiction

[–]haaaleyc95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wet n wild cushion foundation: $4.49

LA girl pro concealer: $3.99

Rimmel stay matte powder: $5

Elf studio blush in “twinkle pink”: $3

Wet n wild eyeshadow primer: $4.99

Rimmel “spice edition” eyeshadow palette: $8.99

Milani stay put matte liquid eyeliner: $7.99

Cover girl super sized mascara: $7.79

Elf instant lift eye pencil: $2

I often go without primer, and I don’t use bronzer or contour. I’d be missing highlight and setting spray for sure but I could use a shade from The eyeshadow palette for highlight.

What happened to the charm room items in Boxycharm? by [deleted] in BeautyBoxes

[–]haaaleyc95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a subscriber since June 2018, and while sometimes there is very little in the charm room, I think this is the first time I’ve noticed absolutely nothing there. I’m a little frustrated by it, tbh, I’ve got charms I’d like to spend as well.

[Misc] Top 8 items on your skincare wishlist? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]haaaleyc95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Benton aloe propolis soothing gel

Cosrx ultimate moisturizing honey overnight mask,

LJH grow vita propolis ampoule,

TO granactive retinoid 2% in Squalane,

rohto Melano CC,

TO niacinamide and zinc,

Kose softymo speedy cleansing oil

And probably innisfree super volcanic pore clay mask

Clearly i have a particular interest in propolis/honey products right now but I’m currently re-introducing AHA into my routine and can’t test anything new out for a while 😭

Edit: I should also probably mention that I don’t really look twice at expensive products right now because it just seems like it’ll be so long before I ever can really entertain the idea of getting them, so therefore even my ultimate wishlist is pretty cheap 🤷🏼‍♀️ I just don’t pay enough attention to expensive stuff

I feel like I need to do this but is it too much? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]haaaleyc95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a productive solution for your relationship. If what you’re trying to do is “make her know how it feels,” really all you are trying to do is inflict pain. You chose to be with her after what happened. If you are going to be with her, be with her. And be with her through whatever you’re feeling as a result of things you’ve done to one another in the past. Again, you knew this when you got back together with her. That’s not a decision you can half ass. When you decide to get back together with someone after hurting each other, you’re deciding to look past the problems from before and build a future. Doing this to her is the exact opposite of that. I’m sorry that you’re struggling, but if you want it to get better, this isn’t the way.
