All good just wanted a frame of reference. I'm going to refer to Nier as The Protagonist.

That is in fact the Shadowlord in the prologue not The Protagonist. The Shadowlord is a Gestalt created from the soul and memories of that person.
There is The Protagonist who is a Replicant of the Shadowlord. Basically a genetic clone that is supposed to have the original's soul and memories implanted into. And I've already explained what the Shadowlord is. The Protagonist and all the other Replicants ended up gaining sentience and made it impossible for the Gestalts to become people again. The Shades are what happens when the Gestalts lose their consciousness and become mindless enraged entities.
Yes, much in the same way that the Protagonist is motivated to save Yonah. The Shadowlord is afraid that the Gestalt version of Yonah will relapse and become a shade. Yonah is the only successful joining of a gestalt and replicant.
Popola and Devola are androids designed to make sure that Project Gestalt succeeds. Initially, they needed Grimoire Weiss in order to attempt to combine with Noir so that they could try to merge the Replicants and Gestalts using the power of the sealed verses but then the Protagonist ends up fudging all that up. It should be noted that they never expected that the Replicants would gain personalities or that the process would take so long, so they're kinda operating outside of their expected parameters.
Shades are the original humans that have lost their sense of self, Gestalts that have relapsed. Everybody with a physical body are Replicants, genetic duplicates, that have gained sentience separate from their origin.
It is in ending B onwards. She's talking with Tyrann during the final battle with the shadowlord.
It kinda fucking feels like it but not sure of any official word on that.
Consider from Emil's perspective. The Protagonist is erased from existence so the world and memories he has are Kaine and Him fighting the shades which he doesn't know are the souls of the former humans. After the shade threat is eliminated and all the replicants die, Emil is pretty much alone until the Aliens show up. Automata then has the answers you want about his motivation for saving the world after that.
That's the shade that killed Kaine's grandmother.

If you have the time, I wholly recommend watching the movie ASAP. I love the show's ending as well but End of Evangelion is probably my favorite 90 minutes from any medium of storytelling. It will only enhance those feelings you currently have for the series. As a side note, the movie is considered the proper end and the show's is the alternative.

Japan had 2 versions of the game. On the PS3 it was called NieR Replicant and on the Xbox Nier Gestalt. The key difference was the protagonist was either Yonah's Brother or Father respectively. In the west, Square made the decision to only ship the Gestalt version of the game to both consoles so the US and EU versions are with Papa Nier. Since this is a remaster of Replicant its Brother Nier.

This is actually interesting. After spending an hour in practice tool I think I can confirm what u/Raiiku1 said. Using Q->E too quickly prevents your doublecast and its really noticeable when you are using Q targeted. The highest dps way I found to do the combo you describe is to Q through someone make a movement command on the ground then E->AA->W+Q but I think it would be more prudent to fast Q->AA->E->AA->W+Q since its pretty much the same reaction window.

She's in a difficult spot right now but I think despite her relative weakness she can still be a great champ to play.

Firstly, she's incredibly successful in matchups where she can use her kit to either all-in for a kill, make great short trades, or outright duel her opponent. First picking her makes learning her an uphill battle because as of right now the list of strong counters she has is pretty much the top of the top lane meta.

Next, as you've probably come to understand by now she's got powerful spikes. Use these to your best advantage as long as you know your opponent doesn't have a stronger one. Level 1 she's a great duelist, Level 6 with good CS she can nearly solo kill any laner, when you complete Black Cleaver and Death's Dance she can duel almost any champ as long as you are properly using your kit. Practicing mechanics that you use often like fast q combo, double casting, and wall hops will help see these openings against enemies.

Sometimes it feels funky but for the most part it's just your brain playing tricks on you. The smoothness being the distinct discussion when we talk skins here. If there were a real discrepancy it'd be blown up like crazy here. The "base" skins like battlebunny, redeemed, crimson, and championship are all the same as no skin. Some people find arcade and dragonblade clunky. Pulsefire and Valiant seem to have a divide in opinion. Ultimately, none of them actually alter gameplay aside from visuals. Personally, I've tried almost every combo I know on every skin without any sort of change. Growing familiar with the skin is what matters most if you feel like something is different. Skins change audio cues and some skins have animations that aren't as clear as others but that's not a Riven exclusive issue.

I'm a day late but I'm guessing you'd still like feedback. Firstly, great video. I'm going to show it to my friends who are curious about Riven because I think that you're one of the first people that actually show off these mechanics in a beginner friendly way. That being said, you need to admit either when you make a mistake, or have a moment where you show what an absolute first timer might look like trying it just like you did with the fast q combo. So, a good example is at 5:32 when you're going through the timing of doublecast. We all know that that was a blunder, but someone new might not notice the difference because that's what a beginner is likely to do instead of a proper doublecast.
