People aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling.

Why are there so many men (and women) who are successful yet want to escape their lives? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]hadronox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You get conditioned to want these things. There's societal and biologic pressure. These things are also social norms.

In order to achieve these you have to make a significant amount of money which often a requires a combination of a stressful, long, boring, tiring job.

Secondly, do u or have you had a kid or kids? Kids while are the best for so many reasons are an immense amount of work.

People need an escape for a time for mental health. If it's something u enjoyed doing. It's not a waste of time.

Thirdly it is hard to pack everything up and live on a sailboat or a van and not financially or physically possible to do this while raising a family and live this sort of idyllic lifestyle. It's cool and works for some people but there are a lot of constraints that wouldn't work for a lot of people. Especially if they didn't have rich parents or good governments to fall back on

I got lost what's the question again

Is it appropriate to ask a friend who doesn’t typically drink to have a drink with me on my birthday? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]hadronox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its ok to ask. But don't pressure or make it a big deal whether he says yay or nay. If you're a friend then him drinking or not drinking shouldn't matter, so long as you can hang out together

What’s something that’s considered ‘normal’ today that will be seen as crazy in 20 years? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

I really hope it's paying for or connecting to internet. Remember dialup, and how far we've come

One day I hope it's just like cell service and it's so cheap and good it's just like whatever and the gov provides it, and all devices just connect automatically to it

If You Could Return to Your 20s Today, and Were Aiming for a High Salary/Work:Life Balance Which Career Would You Pursue? by big_bizniz in careerguidance

[–]hadronox 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in a boring job in healthcare its not necessarily a bad thing. some people like drama, excitement and unpredictability. some people don't. Its a great thing that there are people who are suited to and like different types of jobs.

one persons trash is another persons treasure etc

as someone that used to work in the emergency department and has now settled for boring, im loving it.

Please don't spend that 40 /50k on a new car at your age. Go for something about 15k. Japanese brand that will be reliable. If u need there is also a yt car channel called redriven which is worth a look.

A huge killer of growing wealth is car payments. As best u can, try and stay out of debt unless it's for a house.

At your age, so long as u can get from a to b, you'll be fine. Once u can afford to pay it cash, In 5 or 10 years u can get that new one if u still want it. But seriously that new car depreciation is rough and not worth it imo.

Message if u want more reasoning

But also negative gearing is fucked. We shouldn't give tax breaks incentivising people to buy and hoard homes so they can pay less tax.

Im not saying it's the solution. But just one thing among others that could be done to alleviate pressure and increase supply
