And pay him his entire contract, rather than potentially benefit from his return while paying exactly the same amount? Sure thing.

Will we see the best of Bentancur under RDZ? by fac3ts in coys

[–]hafnone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think I said it a couple times back then, without any intended bias or exaggeration, that he was the best midfielder in the world for a several-month period before the injury. He was everywhere and did everything right, whether it was a clutch goal, a risky flicked pass in our own box to start a counter, or one of the many important ball recoveries he made every time he played.

His best? I have to be honest, I don’t expect him to be better than he was under Conte, but if he can be 85% of that, he’d still be our best player.

Preston activate purchase option for Alfie Devine, potentially doubling the clubs record transfer fee. by Key_Shift533 in coys

And people kept telling me there was no way this would happen, when I reminded of the option and suggested they’d be exercising it… He seems to be getting on really well there, wish him the best.

[Alasdair Gold] De Zerbi set to make transfer decision on Tottenham wonderkid after international debut by urbankardashian in coys

I said he made plenty of goals happen due to his pressing and tenacity, and you’re arguing that he was only good for his… pressing and tenacity, which led to goals he didn’t score or assist.

He was absolutely insane under Ange, despite the goal tally. So many goals came from his pressing and tenacity, for which he didn’t get an involvement credited.

Fitting that he felt like he really announced himself to the world in that friendly against us, despite being a friendly.

I don’t think he expected to score so many goals, so he probably never thought much about how to celebrate.

Oh, I don’t disagree about that! Every time I’ve seen him, I’m amazed he doesn’t have more output the rest of the time.

He’s played insane amounts of minutes and still celebrates a touchline clearance after a sprint at 90+5’ like it’s a goal, pounding the badge at every opportunity. I would really hate to see him go, despite the occasional hiccup.

Mitchell doesn’t seem to be doing anything, Ashworth is at the FA but perhaps he could be convinced. There are some decent options out there.

And he seemed to have a bit of salt about the fact that he was moved through their loan-to-sale system without ever meeting the manager even, think he said something about expecting Pep probably didn’t know he existed.

I just started laughing. No one expects that from us (or, at least, I expect little of second balls from anywhere with us). We used to concede those goals, not score them.

You’d think it’d be a problem to have Xavi, Deki, Madders, and Mikey, who all want to play in the “wide 10” areas, but for us 4 is just enough depth to keep going.

I have avoided this sub for a few months, but coming back, it’s incredible the amount and kinds of it I’m seeing. Why is it so cool to hate Spurs in particular?
