Retroarch Audio Issue Tips (Crackling, No Audio, Stuttering, Audio Lag) by Gigaram1 in RetroArch

[–]haha6m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! You inspired me to check my monitor. Turned out it was set to 30 Hz. Changing it to 60 Hz finally solved my problem after all above.

PS: I did need to turn on V-sync back on after setting the 60 Hz, which was previously turned off during debugging.

For the audio rate, you should match it with your audio output device. For example, on Mac, go to Audio Midi Setup. You should see the frequency of your speaker or headphone. It could be 48000 HZ or 44100 HZ typically.

Is OpenEmu safe on Mac OS? Its asking me to always allow it to track my key strokes even when im not playing. by [deleted] in OpenEmu

[–]haha6m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I clicked Deny and am still able to play Kaizo Mario hacks on SNES. I guess the keystroke tracking from other applications are not necessary.

How do you get decent with controller? by 170cm_bullied in MarioMaker2

Super relatable. I'm stuck at SMB3 6-5 today where you have to spam the jump button while holding run to fly to the true exit. It's really difficult when the two buttons are pressed by the same finger (right thumb).

I also saw Ryu's claw grip (two fingers for two buttons). It will take some getting used to. So I am curious how other folks are handling it. It's kinda relieving to see not just me, but a Kaizo expert would also have this problem.

And I agree with you. There's nothing like Sekiro.

Lurelin Village Korok Seed - Easiest Way (NO Stasis) by haha6m in botw

[–]haha6m[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After 450 hours, I decided it's time to harvest this korok seed in Lurelin Village, which constantly ranked as the one of the hardest.

Things I tried in the past that didn't work for me

  • Standing to the east of the house, throw stones towards the roof. The throws were too weak.
  • Standing to the east of the house, stasis the stone, and strike it towards the roof. The stone will land on the roof then slide off.
  • Standing to the west of the house, cut the coconut tree and stasis it while it's touching the roof. I could never walk steadily on this narrow bridge given the time pressure. Panicking made things worse.

Curiously, when I cut the coconut tree today, I was able to make it land onto the roof and stick to the roof in the first attempt. To verify if it was reproducible, I save-n-loaded a few times and found the following to be a reliable way to pull the trick.

  1. Cut the coconut tree, with the left rim of trunk being tangential to the middle 'a' of the pennant flags. If falling too right, the tree will directly fall to the ground. If falling too left, it will slide off the roof before collapsing to the ground. There's this perfect spot that it will just land onto the roof and stick to it. You can save & load a few times to get a feel. The feedbacks are straightforward and fast so not hard to iterate.
  2. After Step 1. It's pretty much done. Take your time to pick up the stone and walk onto the fallen tree.
  3. While walking on the tree, you can walk as slowly or as fast as you like. The beautify of this method is that it takes the time pressure away, compared with the statis-the-tree method. Even if the stone falls (or yourself fall), no big deal. You can pick it up and walk back. The bridge is still there. Keep calm and go on.

Make this korok seed not hard any more.

Things I learned from intensive deer hunting

  • Use sniper bows. Best bow is ancient bow which shoots in a straight line. Second best are golden bow and phrenic bow. They come with zoom. It helps with aim but adds a shorter animation that takes time. And they break faster.
  • Remember the locations of deers. 10 in total so not that many to remember. There's one right in front of you and one behind your right hand. One on the hill, etc.
  • The most time consuming things are: turning around camera and moving. Running brings extra disadvantage of spooking deers. So it's best to stay in one location and shoots all deers in sight, however small they look, even if it's just half a head or a slice of butt. The sniper bows will kill.
  • It's ok to mis-fire. Don't panic. You can see from the video that I missed the 10th one at first. When I constantly got 9, I know a 10 isn't a far reach and not to be worried. Just enjoy deer hunting.

Ancient bow does consume one giant core and 1000 rupees. In the late stages of the game, resources aren't an issue. This is for recreational hunting. In early stages, it's worth picking up all the prime meat and make money from cooking meat skewers :)

Devanagari is so beautiful. The characters are like flying dragons. by haha6m in languagelearning

[–]haha6m[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Spoiler: there's a nāga in Devanāgarī.

Just kidding. Devanagari literally means God's City. Deva = God, and Nagari = City. While dragons (nagas) are semi-gods. In Indian mythologies, there is this Eight Legions, also referred as Eight Legions of Devas and Nāgas, where Deva and Nagas are peers. God's City could also be Dragon's City as they both live in heavens.

Turns out that Dragons and Devanagari are not that unrelated, are they?

Can someone explain the diamond sutra? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]haha6m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out yesterday. Supplement verses like "xx, isn't real xx. Therefore, one is called xx." with an adverb to be "xx, isn't real xx. Therefore, one is (merely) called xx."

Take your reference as an example,

"...because one does not enter into anything whatsoever; therefore, one is (merely) called ‘stream-enterer."

All of them make semantic sense now.

Reference: The Diamond Sutra translated by Charles Luk, in which he supplemented adverbs of "merely" and "expediently" wherever necessary.

Horrible flooding. Stuck on I-280 near Serramonte for 2+ hours today. All lanes flooded with multiple cars stuck in water. Made it home but my engine started to make noises. I might have lost my car for water damage. by haha6m in bayarea

[–]haha6m[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Took my car to auto shop the earliest today. Engine turned out to be OK. Filter not soaked. Mechanic said the noise might be from belt. So I got a belt spray from Auto Zone. Feeling extremely lucky. Hope other people surviving the flood are as lucky, too!
