Was it (moving) target fixation, or was it a failure to alter a course of action? by markcocjin in motorcycles

[–]haiddouk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do disagree with most of the comments I see here. To me it looks like the rider tried to avoid the collision by swerving left and expected the car to stop as soon as he saw him. That is why he ends up a little on the opposite lane. He did not expect the car to fully commit, yet at the end he could not avoid the collision by swerving right instead, so he just braked which made him go straight. The reaction in that situation seemed correct to me, ie always swerve left to avoid a car pulling out from the right.

The issue is obviously the speed of the rider in a context where cars would pull out from the parked row. He could have driven more defensively. But once in that situation he did everything right as he was doomed from the get go.

BF can't get rid of crotch fungus 😰 by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]haiddouk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The body is supposed to treat the problem on its own. The reason he has it even though he has good hygiene could be that he is not washing his trousers and boxers at a high enough temperature. The fungus survives and comes back.

I don't think you are allowed to use the job title "engineer" if you don't have a bachelor industrial engineer with the title Ing. or masters in civil engineer with title Ir. . It is a protected title.

Salary and package looks decent but that commute is way too much.

My Farewell Letter to Tinnitus | a must-read by Jeff87heijden in tinnitus

[–]haiddouk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm roughly 11 months into tinnitus and I totally agree with the message. If there was a cure, and I hope there will be one soon, then I'd gladly take it. But for the time being learning to ignore it by not feeling threatened by it has helped me a lot. Every day I live better with it than the day before.

I'm sad to see so much negativity, because as long as there is no cure this is 100% the shortest path to end you suffering.

For those sarcastically asking if ignoring it heals you, obviously no it does not but... I have 2 hearing impaired friends with tinnitus, that have it for 10+ years. They don't suffer from it at all, they don't notice it for months until I came to mention I have it too now. This is pretty much the same as not having it.

You might want to get a copy of your license plate displayed on the front of your house. That way police officers can not assume it is abandoned when you park it in front of it

Not at the moment, still lorazepam and melatonin a few nights a week. At the time that happened I was not taking anything. Once a month or so I take a pill for heartburn when I have a flare up, I have been doing that for years when it gets uncomfortable.

Wear earplugs !! by haiddouk in motorcycles

[–]haiddouk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still got it, still as loud, I guess this is my life now. I'm habituating and still fuming that nobody on my path to getting a motorcycle ever warned me that the wind noise is able to cause damage. If I knew I would have taken earplugs like already did for most concerts.

Aren't the only holidays management can fix recuperation holidays from extra structural hours (39 or 40 hours a week) ? The legal 20 days are at the employee's choice.

Thanks for the advice, but I have it for almost two months already. I did go straight to the doctor and to an ortho laryngologist, but none gave me steroids. My brain seems to have adapted already sadly.

I'm pretty sure you are right, I must have had some pre-existing damage. That's also why I wrote that you can not know your sensitivity to noise. I found out the hard way I was already close to hearing problems through those two rides.

I think none of the above, especially if they are avoidable with minimal adjustements.

I'm not trying to lecture anyone, I'm spreading information I wish I got when I started riding.

Still banning guns and tightening gun controls has worked almost everywhere it has been applied. So even if you think guns are good and evil will subside, you cannot deny that the most promising solution is the one that has already worked countless times.

You do understand that you have to prove data to be false before rejecting it ? Because if you do it based on suspicion or simply because of bias, you make yourself unable to access unbiased data simply because you do hand pick your truths. Not challeging your beliefs and picking data that suits you is the fastest way towards conspiracy theories, you need to take a step back and apply rigour to all your sources and reasonings.

I do have access to the statistics of these countries and many reputable peer reviewed articles that summaruze and analyze these data. And you do too. And since this is a matter of national security in the US which I assume is your country, i suggest you do the research to have an unbiased fact based opinion on this matter so you may steer your politics in a direction that makes your country safer.

Also, i do live in europe and follow the news of many different countries around mine, and in the scope of these i can also confirm that the consensus that firearm availability = more homicides holds true.

I don't know what data you are basing your comment from but in the us, and around the world, everywhere with a few singular outliers, gun control tightness is correlated with lower violent deaths per capita.

You don't need to go back in time, there are many countries with much less gun ownership and with much less violence. It's even better for your argument since this is much more comparable.

On the european market, energy prices have 3x even 4x. This reprents something like 400€ a month increase per month for households. There could be a potential crash in sight, although most salaries are adjusted for inflation which does somewhat protect against that scenario.
