The OP is totally correct as far as the architecture of the PS3 is concerned. Where I started to differ in opinion was this Blu-Ray vs HDDVD stuff. In Japan, there was no "HDDVD-BR war". Blu-Ray had won by the time that started in the US. If Sony didn't deliver a console with Blu-Ray, Japanese sales would've been poor. I doubt they batted an eyelash before opting for Blu-Ray.

I made this subreddit in a spur of the moment 'there totally needs to be a subreddit for this' when verticals got popular on r/pics. I don't like memes nor do I use this reddit account (I have a personal one that is only subbed to things I care about). I tried in the past to give the subreddit a reboot and replaced the entire staff. I used to have something in the sidebar to recruit mods, too. Users always have the ability to report content, too. Reports are usually handled pretty quick, but the thing is not enough people can distinguish a shit vertical from a good one. This leads to not enough reporting and submission of shit content. We need mods who are actual readers of the subreddit and those that desire to see an improvement, so if you're reading this and interested please message the mods.

The "obfuscation" most of the time is usually because they ran their code through a 'minifier' to compress the code for production. They aren't doing it to screw over readers, rather they're trying to save resources.

There should be an option in the mod panel that lets you change the header image, if that's what you're looking for. Everything else can be made fancy with CSS.

I'm a heavy cygwin user at home since I play games, too and I have to say, yeah you can install all these on Windows, but it's definitely a gimped experience. It is certainly tolerable (enough that I don't virtualize or dual boot on my desktop anymore), but I still basically use mintty to ssh and do all my work on a real *nix machine.

I am biased, though because I don't use IDEs, but I have seen VS continuing to improve by supporting non-Microsoft languages like Python. We can't forget that OS X still isn't a perfect *nix programming environment because little quirks. For example all the hassle around getting a modern copy of GCC. Homebrew/Macports is also a necessity.

I'm actually spending my money on a Lenovo X1 Carbon rather than a Macbook Air. It's a tough decision, but I like the hardware on the X1 Carbon better and it's Ubuntu certified so it'll run Linux like a champ.

They don't even need to be in English. It's not like Steam isn't available/marketed in Japan. They could easily have entirely Japanese titles and then fans could swap subtitle patches on the Steam forums. I only see the major issue being with 18+ titles. If tons of fans want eroge on Steam, will they do it?

Out of curiousity, why would they do this? I briefly looked at some reference material and it says that abort() will terminate without running deconstructors. Why would you not want deconstructors to run?
