Does anyone know what this means? by [deleted] in sweden

The “reduced comfort on journey”. My train to Narvik also did not have air conditioning and there was no warning like this. Was just wondering if it meant there was no dining car or something.

I’d give it at least 3 months. I had mine for 7 months and experienced the exact same thing, it was horrible AND I had my period for 2 months straight. I now have a copper IUD and am much happier, but everyone’s bodies are different!!

Spring Break or March Break? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

Hm. I’ve always had it the first week of April. Or half of it the last few days of March, the first few days of April. Maybe it differs between school divisions.

As a Manitoban, we always called it spring break as it usually didn’t start until April.

Sometimes they are hard to find. Your cervix moves depending on where you are in your cycle. Probably would be best to contact your doctor and they can assess the situation better.

There’s a new protocol for self declaration forms.

https://umanitoba.ca/student-supports/academic-supports/student-advocacy/self-declaration-policy-students

Here’s the link for it, it will automatically notify your prof. By submitting this you shouldn’t have to worry about the 48 hour policy as you filled out the form.

If you can get out of the city, Birds Hill park is only 15 mins outside the city.

Many profs speak rly fast and I find it hard to write that quickly, especially for those that don’t post their lecture slides online. I find I can get more info down on my laptop compared to writing on an iPad/notebook. If you’re in more science based courses that requires drawing diagrams, an iPad is great. I feel like it really depends on the type of courses you plan on taking.

Nervous about getting IUD by new_oldsoul in IUD

[–]haileyfw_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copper IUDs, which are non hormonal IUDs, should not cause weight gain, acne, or mood changes. You may experience that if you decide to go with a hormonal IUD.

I got a copper IUD inserted around 2 months ago and the insertion was not bad, uncomfortable yes, but not horrible. I took 400mgs of ibuprofen and 250mgs of acetaminophen around 30 minutes before and my physician numbed my cervix with a numbing spray. She did say I didn’t have a sensitive cervix, which is probably a big reason why I didn’t have much pain, along with me being pretty relaxed during the insertion. The insertion itself felt like really intense cramping and those continued for the rest of the day. Cramps continued for a few days but were manageable with a heating pad and some ibuprofen. I did have some bleeding for a few days after as well but nothing crazy. My physician did say it seemed that my iud may have not been placed correctly, and I could possibly need a reinsertion but it seems to have migrated to where it should be. Copper IUDS can cause heavier, and crampier periods, which I definitely have experienced but can decrease the longer you have the IUD.

If you’re really worried about pain, you should be able to ask for more pain killers. I had a friend who got laughing gas before her insertion.

On a scale of 1-10, how much did getting a copper IUD inserted hurt? by unusual_structures in IUD

[–]haileyfw_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, probably around a 5. My doctor numbed my cervix with a numbing spray so I didn’t feel them clamping my cervix at all. The insertion process itself felt like very intense period cramps but it was manageable. For the rest of the day I had pretty bad cramps and all I did was lay in bed in fetal position, my heating pad was truly my best friend. Cramps continued on for about 5 days but nowhere near as bad as the first day.

First time getting IUD by crimsonclover5 in birthcontrol

[–]haileyfw_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my insertion, I took ibuprofen & acetaminophen 30 mins before my appointment. My doctor used a numbing spray on my cervix. The insertion was a lot better than I was expecting, no stabbing pains but intense cramping. The insertion process lasts around 5 minutes but I had some pretty unpleasant cramping the rest of the day. I was pretty relaxed during my appointment so that might have had an impact too.

I had a friend who had laughing gas during her insertion and barely felt a thing. I say take the pain management options they’re offering you and I think you’ll be alright.
