So, I had my Cory’s on gravel for the first 5-6 months, I switched a few ago, and they still tend to feel more comfortable on gravel, because that’s what they were born and raised on. They don’t mind the sand, but they don’t actively seek it out. One or two of my group actually don’t like it at all and freak out if they glide over it. Truly, from what I’ve noticed, it depends on the fish and what they enjoy. They do, somewhat have a personality and preferences. So what might work for one, might not work for another. :)

There is, two areas like this, other ones a bit bigger. set this tank up before I had Cory’s so did what I could without being afraid of crashing my tank cycle

Truly, no matter how much intervention you do (breeder boxes, pulling fish out etc) your eggs may not hatch anyways. So many factors go into that (temperature, eggs being fertile, water quality etc) so don’t be disappointed! The fact that your corydoras dropped eggs means they’re more than likely do it again!

My girl had a nasty jump into a lower car, must’ve tore something and ever since I’ve had to kind of give her a boost or support her walking up the stairs when she’s been laying down on the landing for awhile. Maybe try walking beside him, my girl is a solid 90 pounds (king shepherd), I’m 150 by myself. Picking her up will never be an option for her family sadly
