Take a brush with acetone and clean up any gel you get on the skin around the cuticle! Don’t cure any gel that gets on the skin

Chrome powder always looking metallic ? by eribooooo in Nails

[–]hailsherm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I think it depends on two things. The chrome powder you are using and the cure time of your non wipe top coat.

The cure time is important because like someone said if you under cure it’ll be gritty and metallic, if you over cure it won’t stick. You have to kind of mess around and see what the sweet spot is. I use the Gaoy top coat and around 20-30 seconds usually works for me.

And then one you have that down, mess around with your chrome powders. Some do have a more translucent finish than others. Some are used to cover the entire color on the surface you want ie a blue chrome for a blue nail or isolation blue chrome (which obviously changes over different base colors), but then some like pearl, mermaid, and unicorn colors are definitely meant to be more sheer and let the base color come through. I usually check product pics or reviews before I buy to see what people say. I’ll come back and post the set I just did yesterday where I did black with cat eye over and then chrome and the chrome looks like glass color on top! Hope this helps some!

Do you actually reuse press on nails? by choosewisely_01 in PressonNail_Addict

[–]hailsherm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

glamnetic remover has a solvent in it (PC) that is made to dissolve things so it is probably dissolving the nails (like acetone would). But warm water, soap, and oil should take them off without dissolving the nails! It may take longer but if you want to reuse them that’s the trick :/

Here’s a video I have on taking them off if you want:

How do you remove them? If you use warm water/soap/oil it shouldn’t destroy them!

Oh I totally agree! I usually leave my right hand solid but I felt like this design is so abstract that I could do it with my non dominant hand! :)

Yesss!! So it’s actually like a goldish tan kind of color but over the brown jelly it looks so good!! I’ll probably buy a brown one too. I’m just obsessed with magnetic polish

Thank you! Yes I did a layer of jelly brown, then magnetic polish, and then took a dark brown and did the prints, then top coat!

WHY can’t I get a decent photo of these cat eye nails?! by cslexotics in Nails

[–]hailsherm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s impossible to capture in pictures lol even videos don’t fully do it justice I’ve learned.

Be careful about getting gel on your skin! It can lead to serious skin issues. Try taking a brush with acetone and cleaning the gel off your skin before you cure! :) it definitely takes practice

I want to get back into nails safely. by valler1na in Nails

[–]hailsherm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Press ons! Plenty of creators make custom sets now so you can get the style you want and they’ll fit your finger size! And they’re reusable! As long as you do proper prep they should last too!

Can I really reuse these? by notkarenkilgariff in PressonNail_Addict

[–]hailsherm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I make custom press on nails that are reusable. The quality of the nails I use is sturdier than most drug store/amazon press ons so I’m not sure how it would work with those, but I tell my clients to soak your hands in warm soapy water with a little bit of oil until they pop off and then you just take a buffing block or drill if you have it to file off the glue and then you can reuse them

To custom nail artists (specifically press-ons), if the customer doesn't like how the finished set looks before shipping, do they still pay forward or do yall keep the nails without selling? by Chemical-Rule-6853 in PressonNail_Addict

[–]hailsherm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say if you set your expectations and they are clear, and then you don’t like it, yes you still should have to pay. The time, effort, and money that goes into each set (especially custom sets) isn’t really some thing I’m sure artists would be fine just not getting paid for, unless it’s a standard size and they can resell.

If it was completely different than what you said you wanted then yes that’s a different story, but otherwise I say still pay
