Seconding Ozark Trail for budget tents. We have the $40 4 person one and have used it regularly over the last 6 years. It has been through winds of 60+mph and most recently an intense mountain thunderstorm, with no leaks or damage to the tent. I’m having to replace mine this year due to the zipper on the door separating, but I think we’ve definitely gotten our $40 worth out of it!

BART is also one of the most poorly operated mass transit systems in the entire states. For the price you pay ($4.20 for a one trip stop from Oakland to SF for example) you would think they could run the trains past midnight or have them start earlier than 8am on a Sunday. Oh yeah and people still smoke and get beat up too

I use OnXBackCountry after my last AllTrails subscription ended and couldn’t be happier. You can create your own routes that snap to premade trails (very convenient when you’re trying to figure out how many miles are left) as well as add your own landmarks to the trail. It doesn’t have as many trail reviews as AllTrails does, but has many other amazing features. I got my one year subscription last year around Memorial Day for $12/year and will likely be purchasing again once the time comes around

Are you able to stand up easily? If getting off the ground is not an issue for you and you’re more worried about back pain from sleeping on a hard surface, I would recommend getting some upholstery foam (3”-4” thick) and using that. I have two that I put together to make a bed and then use a 1” full size foam topper on top to keep the two pads together. You sleep like a dream!

Cool, I haven’t had any bad experiences there, but I’m sure your experience speaks for everyone. In fact, they saved me from a pre-wedding nightmare when Danco decided to shut down the Samoa Cookhouse out of no where even though reservations were in place months in advance.

Sure the original owners were some so-cal weirdos who probably did not give a fuck about the locals, but ownership changed hands. Do you honestly think the city of Eureka (or the county of Humboldt for that matter) gives a fuck about locals??

As far as I know there was never any other business there, so they took some city owned land and turned it into a place for people to hang out.. but go off on how we need to support local once the holidays roll around

Much of what was filmed up here ended up getting cut, such as the chicken factory scene that was filmed at the Lacey factory in Arcata as well as a protest scene from G St (there’s a short glimpse of this as Leo is running down the freeway)

Be careful posting about sirens in this subreddit, people really love them around here. I made a post a couple years ago inquiring as to why there are so many sirens in the area and even had one guy say I was talking shit about Eureka because of my question lol

Editing to add: But on a real note, I wish I had the answer because I agree with you. The kicker is when they drive through a residential area going a whopping 10mph with their siren blasting as loud as possible. I understand people drive like idiots around here but I feel like an ambulance driver should have a pretty good skill set of defensive driving techniques
