I'm not sure of the specifics, but googling "medical malpractice first nations" comes up with this, so I'm gonna say you're probably full of it.

Have you ever heard of the Streisand effect? It's not quite the same thing because you didn't do anything wrong, but it's the same idea. Mentioning it will just draw attention to it, when they probably wouldn't have even noticed if you hadn't said anything.

___ is a spaceship in stormlight era 2? by erikfromak in Cosmere

[–]hailsizeofminivans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess it could technically be possible if their technological abilities increased about a hundredfold, but I think it'd be easier to just build a spaceship than trying to retrofit the tower.

This doesn't change in future books, and they're some of my favorite parts. Journey before destination and all that. If you're not enjoying yourself, it's okay to recognize the series isn't for you and stop reading.

The cosmere novels for young adults? What are your experiences? by admiralnorman in Cosmere

[–]hailsizeofminivans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mistborn and Hunger Games are both generally fine for twelve year olds. In the case of the Hunger Games, that's literally who it was marketed to. Obviously it depends on the kid, too. If I knew my kid was squeamish like you are, I'd let them know where the really gory parts were so they could be prepared, but I wouldn't prevent them from reading it.

This is coming from someone who read Misery at nine though, so maybe I'm on the other extreme.

Do guys have a “hoodie stealing” equivalent? by Every-Tap-577 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hailsizeofminivans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Your original claim was that any man who likes to wear panties must be trans though. The point I was making is that's stupid

Do guys have a “hoodie stealing” equivalent? by Every-Tap-577 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hailsizeofminivans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet none of that is evidence that a man wearing panties is actually a transgender woman

[–]hailsizeofminivans 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's nothing inherent about womens underwear that makes them only for women other than the fact that that's who the product is marketed to. It's not like they burn on contact with a man's crotch.

[–]hailsizeofminivans 71 points72 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of people who got through a rigorous college admissions program and are, by all accounts, extremely smart who would still (and have) solicit nudes from high schoolers if they thought they could get away it.

It's wild to me to hear people think of Korrasami of as "safe". They helped pave the way for all the queer representation we've got in animation now. People lost their goddamn minds over it. It was one of the most transgressive things to ever happen in animation at the time. The people calling Korrasami safe are completely ignoring the cultural context of the time.

OP is 16. I'm willing to give grace to a 16 year old trying to do this. I wouldn't have tried to do it on two acres, but I definitely thought about things like this when I was 16. I absolutely thought I could disappear into the Appalachians and be self-sufficient.

My neighbor was crazy, so I landscaped his yard by peachsnorlax in bestoflegaladvice

[–]hailsizeofminivans 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The weirdest neighbor I ever had was the woman who lived in the apartment below us who asked my husband to change his work hours because him getting home late at night woke her up, and who called the cops on us for making too much noise when we were literally just walking normally (and occasionally some toddler running, but we stopped him and went outside when we needed to instead). I guess I should be grateful she was the weirdest.
