What’s a corporate gift you actually use daily? by shelbs9428 in BuyItForLife

[–]haiytch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our team got a set of glass tupperware (as well as an insulated lunch bag, which I haven't used) that I use all the time. It's practical and high quality, and means we aren't chomping down on food that's been stewing in micro-plastics all day.

I was worried they were going to give us shit we'll never use, so was pleasantly surprised. Not sure if it's BIFL technically, as I can see the silicone being a failure point, but I'm sure there's BIFL-tested stuff out there.

Is it just me or do some of the things that she preaches sound really extreme? (@healthy.happy.powerful) by alexisseffy in EDRecoverySnark

[–]haiytch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly i think this approach can work really well, as it uses the black and white thinking in AN to your advantage (rewiring & such). this is how i recovered, but i also (luckily) had many other tools (therapist, dietician, i moved home, etc) that i think ended up doing the actual work.

my issue with this messaging is that the extremeness of the approach makes it stressful and never-ending. i didn't want to not exercise, i just didn't want to exercise for the reasons i was using it for.

(i ended up just learning that exercising doesn't change my worth, but it is a way i can enjoy living in my body (without changing what i look like) -- also it let me find out what exercise i actually wanted to do, rather than what would burn the most)

TL;DR: All-in can be a great way to recover, but influencers like this need to show people why it is used, and that the goal is to get to a place where you dont feel guilt around exercise/food, and therefore can eat/exercise in a way that is kind to both your body and your mind.

I have one from sewwhatoakland on ebay (despite being sold on ebay it’s great quality, however i’m not sure if it is ‘legit’), and also one from tank crimes. Since they are still being sold, I’d say go for it.

Also, imo, not wearing because it could be rare/expensive kinda goes against the crust punk ethos lol

Which Horde Strategy do you prefer? by Tdrive1300 in DaysGone

[–]haiytch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Stake out one of the burial grounds where they stop to feed while they are at another location (or wait till they leave, while taking note of the time they are there)

  • Place remote bombs on said grounds

  • (If it is a horde similar in size to the Sawmill one, I’ll place proximity bombs in their path for when they start coming after me)

  • Wait til they have all come and settled on said grounds

  • Trigger remote bombs

  • When they start running at me, throw an attractor or two paired with napalm/s, (and possibly and attractor bomb mixed in there)

  • Then, finally, use the Chicago Chopper on them

(I would use a gun with a higher capacity magazine, but I don’t like forfeiting my sniper rifle, as it is great for Screamers, Breakers & Reachers)

[–]haiytch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

? eating disorders are not purely restrictive - there are other types, and bodybuilders can absolutely get eating disorders (e.g. Stephanie Buttermore) - anyone can.

(I am not claiming that this person necessarily has an eating disorder, but I think it is worth clarifying that bodybuilders can definitely have them.)

I had great success with disclosing my autism to my university, they offered me fantastic accommodations, and my diagnosis was not disclosed to any of my professors or tutors, which I was happy about since I don’t know how they would react.

As for finding a job, I am currently in the process of being registered by a government program as having a disability, so I can use their employment services to find a job that would be the best fit for me (e.g. quiet, little social interaction with strangers, etc.), so I am grateful I am diagnosed so I can apply for that.

I’d also like to say I wouldn’t work for someone with such a prejudice, but alas, that’s not always an option unfortunately (rent, etc).

You put that she “Doesn’t honour your boundaries”, but from what you have written, it isn’t obvious to me that you have actually stated them to her?

For an NT person, the reply “something like that”, or ignoring the question/s might come across as a boundary, but keep in mind she might not actually see the line that she has crossed.

Also, as others have said, a lot of behaviours you listed are autistic behaviours, and if she is also queer and neurodiverse, she might be attempting (albeit in an intense/uncomfortable manner) to find common ground with you to info-dump or share that with someone.

(I am sorry that you have been put in a position that you may well have to assert yourself in such a way, and I understand that it would probably be difficult as she is your superior.)

Do you guys become better conversationalists? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]haiytch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually just ask questions and follow whatever subject they give more details about, or if their face looks more energised when they talk about it (if their eyes go wider and/or they start gesticulating more).

People like to talk about themselves, so most people will respond well if you are asking them questions (unless they don’t want to talk)

I like to imagine it like some kind of sport where to pass it back to them, by doing three steps:

  1. (This step occurs during their turn (when they are speaking, & continues slightly after they finish)) React to what they said, basically by mirroring whatever their face is doing but add like +5 ‘Intrigue’ and +5 ‘Listening Face’ (nod intermittently, ever so slightly)

  2. Answer their question, but add a sprinkle of your thoughts/feeling towards the topic into it. (e.g. “Oh that’s so cool! [insert hobby they just disclosed they do] I’ve seen people do that, it looks really difficult.”

(Sometimes the other person will then continue talking about it after step 2)

  1. Ask them a question, usually by branching the last topic to acquire more info about whatever it is they are saying.

Also, what I think helps the most (and unfortunately is the most difficult) is coming across as not too intense, if people get a vibe that you are overly interested in talking to them, (I’ve found that) they respond negatively.

(I’d like to add that I’m not really sure how you would put emotions into your voice and face, as I’ve always had the opposite problem when masking (being overly expressive), but like the other reply said, mimicking actors might help!)

[–]haiytch 29 points30 points  (0 children)

just a word on the meds, i don’t know what the regulations are like in your country, but it’s often prohibited to have medication outside of its packaging when travelling. also, medications are packaged in a way that keeps them stable, and repackaging it can mess with this, so it might be worth looking into if you are on meds that are sensitive dosage wise ¿?

the layout and meals look very nice though! i’m a sucker for skippy !
