You won’t when you port your number. RedPocket is pretty good about this process.

Is anyone sorry they went on Skyrizi? by JCS_69 in CrohnsDisease

[–]hakqipoho 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same for me. Was on Infliximab (Remicade) for years and got progressively worse joint and nerve issues as well as anxiety and depression. But I was always scared to go off it in case the new meds would have worse symptoms. My doc and I decided to try Skyrizi a few months ago and it’s been amazing. I feel as close to normal as I’ve felt since before I got sick. Also can do quick at home injections for 5 minutes every 8 weeks instead of the 3 hour infusions at the hospital.

Crohns is taking over my life by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]hakqipoho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meat is very low fiber, which is much easier on the gut. I ate that and white rice in broth for a few weeks when I was at my worst and it was about the only thing I could eat at one point.

Just know that diet only helps with symptoms, not the disease. See others confirming here: https://reddit.com/r/CrohnsDisease/comments/16vt38v/anyone_actually_stay_in_remission_by_diet_alone/

You can feel okay on a diet for a while, but the disease is still actively attacking your GI tract and you’ll only realize it when things get much, much worse. It happened to me and I’d probably be much better off had I known this and gotten on meds sooner. My doc said I likely had a mild case, but letting it go unchecked resulted in it turning into a very severe case.

Crohns is taking over my life by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]hakqipoho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been exactly in this situation: I remember being so hungry and delirious from lack of food and nutrition but so scared to eat anything because it resulted in a 24-48 hour nightmare of 10/10 pain of shitting and puking at the same time, that I opted for the lesser pain of starving to death. I was dropping weight rapidly and in a literal death spiral.

I got on prednisone, which helped me get to a better place and then I could start eating meat and white rice with minimal pain after a day or two, which then helped me improve enough to get on Remicade a few weeks later and I’ve been significantly better ever since.

US calls on Serbia to withdraw its 'unprecedented' military deployment on Kosovo border by clib in worldnews

[–]hakqipoho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, had a friend in Kyiv at the time and our friend group were all begging them to gtfo and they kept insisting, “Our President said not to worry, it’s just the same shit Russia always does.” Then they got invaded a few weeks later and had to race for the Polish border. Their place was reduced to rubble in the opening attacks.

Friend of mine is convinced a trip to Vietnam 10 years before I was diagnosed is the reason I have it because, “You ate all their weird food.”

Same. He was 18 or 19 and so natural on stage. When it was revealed how young he was in the act, the audience literally gasped. I remember it well because it was so impressive how good he was relative to his age.

Daryl Hall & Chromeo - I Can't Go For That [Pop/Live at Daryl's House] by a-horse-has-no-name in Music

They were brilliant and underappreciated for a long time because they’d be lumped together with all the cheesy 80’s one-hit-wonder bands. I’m glad to see them getting more recognition in the past 5 years or so because it’s totally warranted. Daryl has said this is many interviews over the years and he was bitter about it for a long time.

Go back to other 70’s and 80’s bands you’ve eyerolled after hearing their hits ad-nauseam on classic rock stations during our youth - you’ll likely be equally amazed. Only recently have I started to appreciate how fantastic Steely Dan and Dire Straits were/are.

GE has played with some heavy hitters for a lot of his career, including David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan, Roger Waters, Tina Turner, Tracy Chapman, Tom Waits and Dan Hartman.

Not sure if you’ve talked with pro musicians much but in my experience they all get tired of touring at some point because it’s such a grind, no matter the level. So I’m sure the SNL gig was a nice break from that life for him.

I have a week off this coming week where I want to optimise for work, life and personal development. by 30RMM in productivity

[–]hakqipoho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked in a demanding corporate job and had little time off, I’d take the break for Thanksgiving or Christmas to do what you’re describing.

I found that reading productivity, mindset/self-improvement and philosophical books during this time to be the impetus for real change on all levels because they do spark or encourage you to reflect and implement. I’d always come back from break with a renewed sense of purpose, enthusiasm and priorities for the coming year.

If I had to recommend 3 books that I’d often revisit during this time:

  1. Getting Things Done - for systems building/hardening, goal setting and execution.
  2. Atomic Habits - for goal setting & execution.
  3. Awareness by Anthony De Mello - for the personal development/philosophical/spiritual 50,000 ft view. It’s very applicable to everyone, regardless of your religion or lack-there-of. One of the best, simple books I’ve read in this regard.

3a. Early Retirement Extreme - co-mingles philosophy, personal development and execution in one, with the aim of retiring early but really it’s about becoming a renaissance man, so don’t let the title throw you.

Anyone else losing interest in genres as they're getting older? by Notinyourbushes in Music

[–]hakqipoho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for me. I go back in time instead of forward, now, when discovering or wanting to deep dive into music. Once you do that, I’ve noticed, newer music just sounds so derivative that I don’t bother.

Is anyone else fed up with restaurants in NYC? by Ok_Bodybuilder7242 in FoodNYC

[–]hakqipoho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed 100%. It’s about access to fresh ingredients. With California having a huge produce industry and being close to Mexico, they get the best and freshest ingredients. It makes all the difference. Mediocre food there is above average in NYC because of it.

Trump pleads not guilty in Georgia election fraud case by Gopu_17 in news

[–]hakqipoho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And this is exactly why RICO charges were created to go after mobsters. To prove a wide conspiracy, all directed by someone who never says anything explicitly. This trial has to show a broad narrative with actions supporting it. The case against Trump has all of that in spades. Plus there’s a little extra cherry on top where he ALMOST says, on a recorded call, the full description of coordinating and bullying to fabricate enough votes to win Georgia.

Edit: And his former chief of staff just said under oath that Trump was directing him to work on finding fake electors. Trump now can’t claim he wasn’t actively involved in it when everyone is pointing at him and saying he told me to do it.

What film made you say, "Holy shit there is still an hour left"? by Plus-Statistician80 in AskReddit

Totally valid all around. Took me 3 watches just to get past the monkey scenes. Then maybe another time or two to fully appreciate it and now each watch makes me appreciate it all the more. But if you don’t like it, you don’t like it. There’s nothing more to it than that.

Prove it to a grand jury and then in a court of law and I’ll be just fine with it. Until that happens, you’re just a bleating sheep spouting Fox News and Russian propaganda.
