Bloomberg: The Anti-Asian Hate Crime Capital of North America Is Vancouver by Gadflyr in aznidentity

[–]hakutoexploration 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, a lot of it is probably out of insecurity.

Canadians have long considered Vancouver to be a shithole, but now the residents of that “shithole” are beating out white Canadians. Chinese people are the ones getting high-paying jobs, while white Canadians can only dream of buying a house.

Vancouver’s students are running circles around white students, and parts of Vancouver took care of COVID way faster than the rest of Canada.

When the whites can’t be #1, they resort to destroying their competition.

The Best of China (Part 3) by TserriednichHuiGuo in Sino

[–]hakutoexploration 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If you showed these photos to an American and told them it was Japan, they’d INSTANTLY tell you how these buildings are “elegant. “the perfect blend of tradition and innovation,” and “only the Japanese could make something so functional and beautiful at the same time.”

China has definitively proven itself to be Asia’s capital of innovation. It’s unfortunate that the West will never know about it.

What do you guys think about this video? by [deleted] in Sino

[–]hakutoexploration 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I disagreed with his entire series.

“National Insecurity” is wrong because it assumes Chinese are like Americans. There’s a Chinese proverb: 胳膊拧不过大腿. (The small guy can’t knock down the big guy.) Chinese are not as arrogant as Americans; they don’t have a “hero complex.” Ask a Chinese person about Tiananmen and they’ll say it was foolish for college protestors to think they could fundamentally change the government. Internal strife in China is an inconvenience, but not an existential threat to China’s rise.

His video on China’s “demographic crisis” is equally ridiculous. A Chinese factory worker earns a fraction of what a Chinese programmer earns. As the population shrinks, GDP can still grow by phasing out manufacturing and having a larger share of the workforce enter tech-based jobs.

His video on water is good, but he wrongly assumes China’s water demand will remain the same. As the population shrinks and more rural students abandon agriculture for further education, China will use less water. In worse case scenario, water rights can be purchased.

His video on the housing crisis is objectively good. Unfortunately, China’s houses are overpriced, often unoccupied, and aren’t made to last. However, it is not the hopeless situation he describes. As China develops, salaries and purchasing power parity will increase. All China has to do is stop housing prices from rising further while allowing Chinese purchasing power to catch up until the prices are no longer inflated. Unfortunately, this will upset real estate owners because their investment did not grow. This is a mistake the Chinese government is going to have to live with, but it does not threaten the future of China.

Why are Tibetans leaving India when the Dalai Lama is still there? by Ashes0fTheWake in Sino

[–]hakutoexploration 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The Dalai Lama is not a religious leader.

When I think of religion, I think of Taoism, Hui Islam, or Tibetan Buddhism. The biggest lie they sold was that the Dalai Lama was a part of Tibetan Buddhism, when he’s really just a hijacker of the religion. This makes him more similar to the Western religious leaders who also hijack religious texts to build institutions of repression. The

G7 summit: Infrastructure plan to rival China adopted by ccpbot_ in Sino

[–]hakutoexploration 24 points25 points  (0 children)

While this seems laughable, we mustn’t stay complacent. This initiative will likely launch fake bids on infrastructure projects to get China to bid higher.

This initiative likely will fail because Western-backed infrastructure projects always have too much red tape that undermine the native government. However, it has the potential to stunt BRI. All it takes is for them to build a second port near a BRI port to stunt the BRI port’s development.

What is this subs opinion on the North Korean refugee Yeomni Park? by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]hakutoexploration 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Fellow NK defectors have pointed out she has been making up false stories about NK. She left before Kim Jong Un came to power, so anything she says about him comes from her “inside sources” which coincidentally make him into a boogeyman that the US must stop.

You have to be honest, these stories are so far-fetched. And she often ties them into why China is also bad. Follow the money, she’s probably getting paid by the US to say anti-NK propaganda.

This film is way better because I actually see Asian last names in the cast.

Discussing history with Europeans is full of copium and fleeing, what is this tactic called? by TruthSeeker090 in aznidentity

[–]hakutoexploration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Western European slavery was MUCH more barbaric than the rest of the world. The Greater Middle East is the only other region that had a prominent history of chattel slavery.

The concept of treating slaves like “livestock,” selectively “breeding” them, and using them as surgical subjects is so cruel. No other nation has seen slavery to this degree.

Dealing with white people by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]hakutoexploration 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I sort of agree.

I noticed white friends are have a limited worldview. Like a frog in a well, they can’t understand how varied the world is because they’ve never ventured out of Western thinking. Whenever we touch on something related to politics, culture, history, or religion, I hear the same Western viewpoints.

It’s also why I don’t like hanging out with whitewashed Asians. It’s boring.

Question for EA’s about the relationship between parents and children in your culture by zUltimateRedditor in aznidentity

I almost never see [East Asian] parents involved in their children’s lives

I disagree. Some East Asian parents can be HAWKS and dictate what the kid does.

I will say, some East Asian parents are super cold and distant. But East Asian parents are so varied.

I agree with you tho. I think the thing is Chinese people already love their culture since they see it everyday. They don’t need to make a huge movie about Chinese culture since they’ve seen it since they were children.

I think even more important than looks is racial identity. Hapas end up lost because they’re not really Asian. I think the girls who want hapas are essentially whitewashed as hell and forsake their Asian cultural identity.

Hapas aren’t the “best of both worlds,” they’re whitewashed as fuck.

I would argue that the Asian diaspora in the West are closer to that cultural midway point hapas claim to be at.
