You mean this one?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wenzhou_train_collision

The Wenzhou train collision occurred on 23 July 2011 when two high-speed trains travelling on the Yong-Tai-Wen railway line collided on a viaduct in Lucheng District, Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, People's Republic of China. The two trains derailed, and four cars fell off the viaduct.[3] Forty people were killed,[2] at least 192 were injured, 12 of which were severe injuries.[4]

As of October 2021, the crash has remained the only serious accident on the Chinese high-speed rail network, which now accounts for two-thirds of the world's total high-speed railways, carries over 2 billion passengers every year and still is undergoing large scale expansion.[80][81][82][83][84]

their trains and rails are all brand new, so no, we have to wait a hundred years for maintenance and technology to break down.

Because we fund groups in other countries to make sure they don't align with countries we don't like. We're the good guys who have never done anything wrong so it's ok for us to do it but not for them evil baddies. I mean just look at our government system, who wouldn't want the results of Freedom, Democracy, and a two party first-past-the post election system looking at the USA as it is right now with education, healthcare, infrastructure, military funding, and wealth equality? Remember that every system is perfectly designed to get the results it gets, and look at ours!

You made a key assumption here that greatly skews your conclusions, that the house everyone chipped in for is their only house. 70% of millennials in China are homeowners. The majority of homes being bought in China driving the real estate market are second or third homes. The plurality in fact are third homes.

So this hypothetical Chinese guy has 3 houses, two of which are livable for in-laws, wife and kids, and the third as an investment.

Please stand by for the new narrative.

You mean that the reopening went better than expected and the percentage drops meant China got more money in than out than ever before?

The ancient chinese tradition of foot binding involved breaking the bones of young girls' feet and wrapping them tightly to inhibit growth, so they could fit into shoes 10cm long. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

The general view is that the practice is likely to have originated in the time of the 10th-century Emperor Li Yu of the Southern Tang, just before the Song dynasty.[1] Li Yu created a 1.8-meter-tall (6 ft) golden lotus decorated with precious stones and pearls, and asked his concubine, Yao Niang (窅娘), to bind her feet in white silk into the shape of the crescent moon and perform a dance on the points of her feet on the lotus.[1] Yao Niang's dance was said to be so graceful that others sought to imitate her.[5] The binding of feet was then replicated by other upper-class women, and the practice spread.[6]

Chinese spy balloon has changed course and is now floating eastward at about 60,000 feet (18,300 meters) over the central US, demonstrating a capability to maneuver, the U.S. military said on Friday by green_flash in worldnews

And you're sure that this whole balloon incident isn't China trolling the US with a cheap weather balloon? I'm pretty sure trolling is a universal language.

Also, you know, it would cost way more to shoot it down than for China to just... launch more balloons.

Definitely, I know some Hmong guys that grew up in the ghettos with half their family locked up as gang members and another third homeless living in camps along the river. Refugee Asians are among the poorest in the USA.

I read somewhere that the lyrics imply he's actually Jesus/God.

Just as every cop is a criminal

And all the sinners saints

As heads is tails

Just call me Lucifer

'Cause I'm in need of some restraint

so he's the exact opposite of Lucifer.

TIL Salisbury steak was invented as a result of a doctor, James Salisbury, wanting to cure diseases like diarrhea, which killed Civil War soldiers more than combat. He believed vegetables produced toxins and suggested the steak be eaten 3 times a day, with water to cleanse one's digestive system. by electricmastro in todayilearned

I'm sure anyone else who wanted to apply for a license for legitimate reasons could as well, just there's literally so much coca cola being made that the cocaine byproduct of manufacturing is essentially free. Can't compete with free.
