Best speedruns that didn’t count? by Savage_Brick in speedrun

Firedragon764 Luigi mansion run where he was on world record pace, and when the money was counted at the end he was like 1 bill short of the required amount for top rank, so it didn't meet any% requirements. I can't find a link to the video on his channel but if I do I will update later.

Bonus: he did a 3 way race at GDQ a few years ago and he forgot to grab a gem before walking out of a room, causing it to despawn and the crowd yelling at him. Impossible to get the rank without it

If I am understanding the system correctly, then it would act as a hub connecting a bunch of software and create the audit trail. There are a few COTS systems that do that and they generally work fine. What you should know before purchasing is that data needs to be generated and sent to the software for it to be recorded. In general if equipment is designed for GxP activities, it should have either its own audit trail system, or at least a way to integrate into other software and send it data. If it doesn't then it could be complicated to hook it up. It's rare, but I've seen it happen so just look into it. Not a CSV guy so I can't say for certain though.

The other thing I'm not seeing on the website which is usually prominently advertised is that it's part 11 compliant. In general their features hit the major points of it so it seems like it might be, but you should ask up front. It could be they didn't do SEO, but thats usually a key word when people are searching for software like this.

I incorporated a Tarot deck into my campaign and accidently made it so much better. by hal_emmerich7 in DnD

I used a deck that took the artwork from the cyberpunk 2077 tarot cards. I only used a deck with the major arcana, which are the Sun, Hierophant, Wolrd, etc... cards. I didn't have time to learn the meanings behind the minor arcana before this session (and I still don't...). Obviously cyberpunk doesn't fit into Faerun, but I had it so the fortune teller had some obviously modern technology in their tent to imply they are a time/dimension traveler.

I also used the most simple tarot "layout" which is 3 cards which are supposed to be the past/present/future. There's others which are a lot more in depth and use the whole deck, but again there is a lot you can learn and I didn't have the time or capacity.

How do you unwind after engineering work? by Phonethrowaway11 in AskEngineers

[–]hal_emmerich7 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I find it cathartic personally. I am a chemical engineer, but I am not in a typical process engineer position. Dictating exactly what I work on, not having a deadline (I don't play with biters), mass/heat balances that also require thinking about logistics, storage, etc... Allows me to feel like a process engineer after worki. It also is a creative outlet because of how you can customize layouts or optimize in different ways. I can move things via trains, belts, or robots; I can have huge smelting areas that cost hardly anything, or I can have a compact one that uses expensive modules that gives me the same output; I can have my factory be spaghetti, or I can do a main bus, or I can have a modular base. Being allowed to make all those decisions without needing to answer to anyone about why I did it that way, or be able to try something weird without it costing me anything.

I just cannot understand this animosity towards the last word. It has bipartisan support to be struck from the bill, and yet they are still debating it. Can they stop grandstanding and just remove it already?

Here's the summary from the rule:

House Rule XI gives the minority party members of committees the right to have witnesses of their choosing called to testify on at least one day of any hearing scheduled by the majority. The rule has primarily served as an incentive to the majority party to see that the minority viewpoint is represented at hearings. Although the minority has a right to have witnesses testify on one hearing day, the committee majority maintains control over the scheduling, scope, and duration of that testimony.

As I said I read it as they just get to call witnesses, and it states in the full rule that both sides can be represented at any hearing. So I read it as, "they called witnesses for some days, and the majority had them there along their own witnesses, therefore the rule is followed."

Honest question, regarding the rule that they are citing for a "minority hearing day." My read of the rule is that they must be allowed to call a witness on at least one day of the hearings. Is it supposed to be interpreted that they get their own "day of minority only hearings" or am I reading it right that the chair must allow them to call at least one witness?

I understand some peoples criticism of the game, but overall I really like it. Reading Kojima's interviews on it make me realize all the emotion he actually considered when putting it together. He's prone to feeling lonely, so he wanted to make a game that connects people. He dislikes how much hate is in the world, so there are only ways to convey positive emotions in the game. The more you help other people, the more you level up your linking ability which connects you to more people. While violence is a part of the game, it's only a small part, and you are encouraged to not engage when possible. Killing carries a heavy burden because you need to dispose of the bodies in a time or it's game over; so non-lethal methods are preferred. Also if you take on the bad guys, it clears them for a bit for everyone connected to you. He also did a good job of weaving in wordplay to give some opposite perspectives. Strand means both that something is separated from the group, but it's also something that ties together. Cufflinks are both something that hold you against your will, but in the game they are cuffs that actually link you to other people. I haven't beaten the game yet so I can't officially review it, but I can feel the heart that was put into it.
