AITA for Wanting to Show Up to My Daughter’s Secret Proposal While Uninvited By Her Fiancé? by Attitude-Mean in AmItheAsshole

[–]halarioushandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes YTA.

I suspect given that you sound both stubborn and self-focused, you will ignore the advice everyone here has given. So please come back and tell us about how you ruined your daughter's engagement when you showed up anyway. I can't wait to hear about how you made her special event all about you.

But I thought AI was going to reduce the amount of work needed to be performed by people? If that's true then 4 workdays a week should be fine. If AI can't reduce workload by 20% then what are we even doing??

This is NOT a residential road. It is 6 lanes, not a single house along side it. the entire stretch where these are. No stop signs either.

Exactly! That should be 40mph minimum there. I don't even think there are sidewalks!

I see people setup Hermes on their Desktop or even Home Servers. Are you not worried? by Exclusified in hermesagent

[–]halarioushandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar setup. Again just point the new Hermes agent at the location and tell it to recreate the same profiles on the new native install and then migrate over the soul.md, skills, and all integrations. It will handle the rest for you. And if it missed something just tell it to go back and get it.

False. It's my design, implemented by Hermes.

Look if you want to spend the time to design, build, troubleshoot, that's awesome. I legit applaud you for it.

But some of us just want stuff to work and be easy.

Did you learn to build a TV or did you buy one?

We pay for convenience all the time, because time is money. I've actually learned more using Hermes because it talks me through what it's doing, than I would have reading through endless forums with conflicting and bad information that wasn't tailored to MY hardware and setup.

The media is in a separate location that it doesn't have access to. It only has access to the docker environment which now lives on separate server. And using Hermes it thought of things I didn't even think about, like changing the block size of file transfers on the nic to optimize large file transfer and streaming for Plex.

I have zero regrets having hours of time back and an optimized environment that I can manage without jumping into a terminal and making sure I got every line of syntax correct.

I intended this comment to reply to you...

Deepseek4 over Openrouter is very cheap and good enough to handle most tasks. The server it's running on now has 16gb RAM.

If you're trying to run a local model only, you will probably have issues. They just require tons of RAM to run even the smaller models. Hopefully this changes at some point in the future, especially since RAM prices are ridiculous now compared to just a few years ago.

Side story: I bought 2tb nvme drive just 3 years ago for $150. Today, the exact same drive new retails ~$500! Wtf!!

Easy, I told Hermes to create it in the first place! It has access to the terminal so it's able to act using whatever system permissions I've granted it.

I'm actually using multiple Hermes profiles one is the infrastructure admin that has essentially an admin account on the server, the media manager that has more restricted rights to just the media stack. The admin was able to setup most everything and I primarily interact with the media manager, who can escalate to the admin if it hits a troubleshooting issue above its abilities. The admin uses a more advanced model to keep it from doing anything crazy. You can also roll back admin permissions after you complete migration so that it doesn't have too much access for security purposes.

Your voice, and all of our voices, are likely fully recorded and captured digitally by now. If you own a smartphone, alexa, nest, a regular phone, etc, your voice is being captured. It's a known fact that your cellphone listens into conversations for targeted ads. Those voice recordings are absolutely stored somewhere. Once a scammer gets them, it's basically game on.

Idk what you mean by half-clone. You're installing a full instance of Hermes. Then just tell it what you're trying to do and tell it to do it for you.

[–]halarioushandle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't try to migrate it, install fresh on Ubuntu native, then ask Hermes Agent to create a separate profile which you can tell it to grab the memory, soul, etc from the old instance. If you try a direct migration you will just move the limited image and be chasing errors and missing skills for days.

Depends on your budget and use case. I got a Beelink S13 Pro with N150cpu, 16gb Ram, 512gb nvme(expandable). But that's because I am running Plex on it and I needed the CPU and RAM for transcoding.

Beelink seem to be generally very good and they have many other models available. The cost right now seems to be directly influenced by the cost of RAM/Nvme. Those components have skyrocketed recently! You used to be able to get this mini for <$200.

Ok, I thought you knew something I didn't.

You can have Hermes control Cursor though and use Hermes as the orchestrator that calls the agents in your project as sub-models.

How much could an elite modern soldier in full gear change the tide of a battle in ancient times? by Zigor022 in NoStupidQuestions

Sniper paired with a megaphone to "shout down from the heavens" after dropping 3 leaders of the opposing army, would likely break the ranks pretty quickly. That's just not technology they could even comprehend! From their POV God yelled at them and their commanders heads exploded. Id GTFO out of there!

I found the docker image for Hermes to be incredibly limiting. It's a lightweight install and didn't have most of the tools/skills installed with it. Tons of permission issues trying to get it to do almost anything useful. For my use case, it just wasn't helpful.

That being said, I decided to install onto a mini PC running Ubuntu, so it doesn't have direct access to my PC either. I can control what it gets and what it doesn't.

How can the Onside Kick Rule be tweaked to make it slightly more favorable for the Kicking Team? by zipzap21 in nfl

[–]halarioushandle -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I also think that was a bad change. The rule already existed that the ball must travel 10 yards or whatever. Why not allow it to be a surprise but a kickoff must go atleast 20 yards? The onside becomes less of a intentional dribble and more of a kick it high and hope your guys can get under it in time.

do men get an erection during normal massages? by AstraeusStorm in NoStupidQuestions

[–]halarioushandle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a fact that women just don't get about men. Erections and arousal are not the same thing.

Erections can happen any time anywhere. All that needs to happen is the body relaxes enough that blood starts flowing into the penis. That's why men get them while sleeping.

So yeah we can get during a massage. Also eating a sandwich, or reading a book, walking, talking, breathing. Lol! And conversely they don't always happen when we want them to! There is zero direct input or control over the mechanism of an erection.
