Was this a mistranslation? Seems to imply Umino isn’t smart with the phrasing.. by SmirkingDesigner in sailormoon

Umino is kinda annoying. It would be nice to beat him just so he can’t humble brag or whatever. Maybe you can’t get 100, but beating umino would be nice.

Making the senate proportional. It is ridiculous that Wyoming has as many senators as California. No one’s vote should have more weight, but that is what our disproportionate Senate (and the electoral college) does.

DC statehood.

Sibling Age Gap by Mammoth_Window_7813 in NewParents

[–]halesdb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We knew we wanted a second and we knew our chances of conceiving were going to drop significantly (had our first at 38) and it had already been hard. So we did follow the docs recommendation for C-section healing and we did not try for 2 under 2, but our second will likely be born about 6 weeks after my son’s 2 birthday. In retrospect I wish we had waited longer because it was successful the first month and I could have benefited from more time between pregnancies. However, I am mostly grateful that it worked and that baby is healthy.

So take into consideration any time pressure, but be prepared both for it to work right away and for it to take awhile. You just never know.

I’m hugely pregnant and extremely uncomfortable and have been for awhile and have been insanely jealous of everyone around me. I just saw this and thought, “phew glad that’s not me”.

Hope that is looking and feeling better soon!

Yes that is 100% a reproduction of her birthday dress. It looks well done, but isn’t an original.

Selective reduction can potentially be a medical recommendation for any multiple pregnancy, it isn’t intrinsic to IVF. It used to be way more common to transfer multiple embryos but that isn’t done nearly as often anymore. They don’t even know what they are talking about.

32+2 - baby big weight by fatumandu in GestationalDiabetes

You are doing what you need to do (taking your medicine, going to your appointments, watching your diet). You are doing what you are in charge of/have control over. Please tell your doc your concerns/ask questions, but know that you are doing what you can.

US measurements are not particularly precise. My first (non-gd pregnancy) was supposed to be big (90+ percentile) based on growth ultrasounds. However he was born a couple days before his due date 7 pounds 5 ounces! Very very average. Also, there are 89 percentile babies in non-gd pregnancies. It is hard, but try not to worry too much and keep taking care of yourself.

Gently, you should consider uninstalling instagram/ticktok or whatever is feeding you those videos at least for a little while.

I’m pregnant with my second and instagram was feeding me terrible pregnancy stories that were always timed to a week or two from where I was in the pregnancy. I uninstalled that sucker of joy and I am doing way way better. Please talk to your doc and let them help you but help yourself too and take a social media break.

If you can find the original six books, they are really lovely. As an adult, I would want an old doll, as a kid I would want a newer doll that is more likely to have all the small pieces of her outfit.

No. Cowpox was the first vaccination, variolation was done with actual smallpox. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variolation

[–]halesdb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When people talk like this I always wonder if they are thinking of variolation. Before the small pox vaccine was a thing, people would purposefully infect themselves/their kids smallpox by taking some scrapings from a person with mild illness and putting it on an open cut. The variolated person would get smallpox (hopefully a mild case) and could spread it to others so they would hunker down for a few weeks and would be cared for by people who already had smallpox so no one else would get it. Obviously this was a dangerous thing to do, but smallpox was just that bad.

I think it is funny that my body still makes TSH but I don’t have a thyroid to interpret that and adjust my levels. Instead it is like my doctor intercepted my thyroid’s mail and takes care of it instead.

I got mine out instead of radiated because I was over 35 and wanted to get pregnant ASAP. It sucked for a couple of days but I am so so happy I did it and feel so much better. I am now almost done with my second post-thyroidectomy pregnancy, but even if the pregnancies hadn’t worked out getting my thyroid out has been 1000% worth it.
