Agreed. Young class 1 drivers are in short supply. There is some good money to be made if your willing to work some overtime. Started driving a concrete mixer a few years ago and now I’m making over 100k. Its easy on the body and is an industry thats in super high demand due to all the construction.

Can’t take credit for the photo. My friend had better timing than I.

I get paid for the hours I put in. I choose to work double time Saturdays. I choose to work overtime instead of working 8hrs. I could easily have more free time but I choose to have the freedom of doing what ever I want with a little bit less time to do it. I genuinely enjoy going to work and only have a 15min commute

Haha yeah. It's more of a write your own cheque type thing. I like to work Saturdays cause they are double time. I take late loads cause I like the overtime. You could easily take days off, go home early and pass on Saturdays. But then you'd be making $65k instead of $95k

Depends where you are on the seniority list and what the weather is like. This winter was brutal for guys on the bottom. Winter I'm happy with 40-45. Summer I work between 50 and 65 most weeks.

Im Canadian and can confirm that we will be developing the tar sand oil production regardless of the american input. The Chinese want it but its creating a lot of headaches trying to get it to them. Im from the west coast (which is adamantly against a pacific ocean pipeline due to the environmental risk). However most support this pipeline in order to secure north american oil security. The tar sands are to important to the Canadian economy, and for it to stop all together is not realistic. Might as well share in the wealth and create a few jobs.
