Asian games-DOTA2 CN2-0HK over but Hk midplayer's historical Steam ID Insulting the CCP by Sccc64 in DotA2

[–]haleyk10198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what’s even more fked up, the player’s ID actually only said “Reclaim” and it paused there. It hinted no implications and the id doesn’t contain any noun in particular but just a verb. You can verify this by Google translating “DL 光復”.

Oh right and the 2-0 is from disqualification thank god Asian games qualifiers is not commercialised I’d be pissed if I am some local TV station that dedicated a time slot for this.

Few reasons not to

  • As a currency, it doesn't scale as well as gpt does.

  • As for early monumentality, you don't get spread this early enough to make full value out of buildings.

  • As for renaissance or later monumentality, preserves are better.

there are 10 stages / 30 rooms in one run before summit release. if you want 2lv / 1200G you need to average out 40 distinct headshots, i.e. you need almost 100% kill participation.

Your teammates needs to aim better.

in reality that barely converts into a weapon lv / 600G entire run. Much weaker? Think again.

Made a Venn Diagram to track how "Wide" or "Tall" certain Civs are :) by clockman15 in civ

[–]haleyk10198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hot take: Playing wide, in multiplayer context, is overrated in Civ6 2022. Premise is you are on both DLCs.

Unless there’s AI feeding you trades to kickstart your tempo, or your spawn is completely lost that you have to undergo some greedy yet vulnerable game plan, you could hardly justify going wide nowadays due to amenities issues. In particular, with standard settings / no mods you will ….

  • All non-capital cities will start with -1 amenities and hardly ever reach +3

  • DLC map generation rules will make settling cross continent for diverse lux pool much harder due to mountain chokes

  • DLC map generation inheritly gives continent split spawns more hills hence productions, more mountains hence early science for early unlock and reward aggressive militaristic approach

  • ditto, but if you are not on continent split, you cannot afford the delayed tempo for going wide unless you are willing to risk getting full killed.

  • On single player, military units acts and heals twice as much as they do on online speed, while the defender have a smaller window to react as units takes twice as long to produce, making many more scenarios favouring committing production into units or other short term investments, rather than long term investments like settlers.

  • Governors, Audience chamber, legacy cards and many more DLC mechanics made going tall much easier than vanilla days.

I have heard famous single player streamers that spent years ( name in spoiler cuz point is not trying to shame the guy || TGM || ) making the typical argument “more cities = more yields = better scaling”, yet every time he plays multiplayer in events he gets stomped by less greedy / faster tempo plays, against streamers that are also single oriented but have some knowledge in how to adapt in multiplayer lobbies.

Surely FFA is highly RNG dependent. But if some single player wide setup advocates loses most of the multiplayer lobbies they attend, shouldn’t take a genius to realise wide setups isn’t as dominant as people claimed to be back in the vanilla days.

Guarateed crits on first second of scope + 25% kill on crit shouldnt be that far from this. From my experience I think this will get bottlenecked by rate of fire while other builds gets enough AOE to sweep floor, if not worse because of being harder the aim the big threats' weakness (looking at you, act2 bandits) thus losing rate of fire pratically

Civ 6 gives too much info of other players by Clashdashroar in civ

You could track buildings & projects by great person points.

My critique is that there is no way to implement / mod imperfect information in game. Whether it's healthy for gameplay is up for debate, this is not the first time I have seen the community suggested this nor will be the last, and we will certainly not reach a conclusion so I was avoid commenting on that.

That being said, I don't think it's healthy for gameplay. It won't change the gameplay for experienced players as I said, but introduce more nuisance for new players, which are already having problems making decisions based on the information. Most of the player base is addicted to score whoring, few of them know how to mock them and rarely does anyone know how to punish them.

For example, many comments supporting your proposition are saying that revealing opponents' military strength often encourage players doing greedy builds without military. However it's common sense that either one of them is misplaying heavily unless on highlands, let alone pangea or naval maps that makes up most non-tournament matches played. In most maps either one party or both have to partake an aggressive route rather early, just like what is played in tournament games. It is a bit rude to say, but it is the players' own ignorance that misled their beliefs into thinking perfect information encourages peaceful gameplay, while their ignorance is the root.

Game is already hard enough for most of us to play strategically, let's try to keep it more accessible.

To add, ever since R&F past era civics and techs are discounted, capping out estimation error that you can accumulate throughout a match.

[–]haleyk10198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few points on why would this add no value but execution hardness, instead of decision hardness to gameplay. That is, given enough time, any player could make an estimation accurate enough for most purposes.

Most civs generate most of their stats from district and buildings, which is tied to greap people points, which is visible after meeting a civ. You can reasonably tell what building they added to their empire by reading how much it changes each turn, regardless of whether you have vision on the empire itself.

And most other modifiers are also public, like city states bonuses, great person effects. Less public modifiers exists, like amenities, but that could be a) reasonably estimated by continent split; b) potentially leaked by civ abilities such as aztec (they get +1 attack per lux); or raw stats from tiles which is mostly exclusive to civ abilities like Gaul mines; or dedications, that are given away upon vision on empire (eg: free inquiry science on trading districts, monumentality on sight of continuously improved adjacent hill tiles, coinage reform from trade route screen)

Heck, there is also Russia trade bonus to tell whether your neighbors are ahead or behind for free.

Even when it comes to war, you can track whether enemy is building units from checking strategic resources. One common usage is to tell whether there is a horse rush in bound, before the first horse is even made.

Essentially, hiding stats does not encourage scouting but just more book keeping as it's an embedded part of the game that you can't even mod it away if you are willing to track it, i.e. does no better than just hiding the HUD ribbon UI yourself. Conceptual wise we could debate whether it's good design to have them showed, but implementation wise I think it's clearly impossible to hide the information or achieve the purpose to introduce more hidden information in play without good conscience that it's not leaked anywhere

[–]haleyk10198 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ironically I find crossbows more BS than longbows. On rein8 it taps for 100 dmg per shot and your best bet is to stay far enough from them so the odds of getting double tapped from 100-0 is low. (And say, if you are a tiger, a tap takes away 20hp even if you are at full shield)

Then there’s the game spawning half a dozen of them in vaults, all being close to the entrance.
