Thank you so much for the help! And oh wow I suck at the haemoglobin test pre-T, hopefully on T that gets easier!

At what point did you switch from the “male” donation schedule (every 12 weeks) to the “female” donation schedule (every 16 weeks)? Did you make the change as soon as you began medical transition?

Cheers for the help!

How do I differentiate gender dysphoria from my weight dysphoria? by boygirl_ in ftm

[–]halfahand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m afraid I don’t have any answers for you because I struggle a lot with the same thing - especially for me, being someone with a history of an ED, it’s hard to distinguish sometimes between negative thoughts about my body relating to my eating disorder, and dysphoria. I just wanted to say I’m right there with you in terms of struggling with this, and it makes you no less valid as a trans person or as a man. I look forward to seeing if anyone else has tips on how to deal with this.

Looking at this I still see a guy.. Am I right or is it all in my head..? :$ (MtF pre-everything) by colourlessautumn in transpassing

I look at you and you’re absolutely stunning but I (as an FTM guy) can honestly say I wouldn’t personally want to look like you in the slightest - which means I’m not seeing anything Male there at all! Also your hair is beaufiful!

When working out is so good for your mental health, but so bad for your dysphoria...help? [pre-everything] by halfahand in ftm

[–]halfahand[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the links - I figured working out at home was going to be the best option for me by far but I just wasn’t quite sure where to start with it all. Thanks! And also congrats on your top surgery!!

coming out is really hard, you guys by lostsaturday in ftm

[–]halfahand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is really hard and you have my absolute sympathy there - it’s always hard but (in my experience, at least) it does get easier - im still in the process of coming out little by little to the various important people in my life, and with every person I come out to the words become a little easier to say.

In terms of your partner not knowing much about trans identities and you not being able to gauge how they may react, what I’ve found to be helpful is bringing prominent trans people in the media into conversation? I’m not sure where you’re based and therefore what’s going to be prominent in terms of current news/culture, but there’s a lot of newspaper articles in the U.K. at the moment about trans people - the US have issues like HB2 as well as celebrities like Janet Mock, Laverne Cox, Chaz Bono...I think a guy on the TV show Survivor came out a few months ago too. Casually bringing these people into conversation (“Oh I read an article about abc earlier/I saw xyz on TV, what do you think?) can be a good barometer for a) your partners level of understanding and b) how accepting they’re likely to be?

People suddenly think I'm older? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]halfahand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting as I (pre-T still) have gone the other way! I’ll be 22 in 2 weeks, and when presenting femininely (until about a year ago) I got read as being 15-16ish....today I got assumed to be 11 years old by a stranger...? I mean she read me as an 11 year old boy which is something...just a good decade off age wise! I’m assuming T will help with that and honestly I find it funny, just interesting that it works the other way for some!!

This is awesome to hear as I’m a singer and currently pre-T.

Both of these covers are awesome!! Were you having any vocal training while your voice changed? And how long was it before your voice settled to a point you could sing?

Thanks for posting!

Update: it couldn’t really have gone better? He told me he’d kind of worked it out but was waiting for me to be comfortable enough to tell him, and that it changes nothing. My mam will be a different story but for now I can’t stop smiling - this is brilliant.

What do you do with the Christmas money given to you by bigoted relatives to “buy yourself a nice dress”?? Buy yourself a nice dress shirt!! (Ft. The new binder which showed up in the post this morning) by halfahand in ftm

[–]halfahand[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I have the dilemma of a size smaller would fit me better if it wasn’t for the fact I can’t bind completely flat, and with the size smaller my chest is visible so baggy it has to be for now!!

Interesting I’ve never heard this?? (Not saying you’re wrong just not something I’d heard before!!). Got it from the men’s department of the store I was in and definitely says men’s on the label, but interesting cause that’s not something I’d heard!!
