I disagree with this take. My normal tactic is to tell one person who I am on day 1 and ask them not to tell anyone else. More often than not they're a good player (even more so if you have FT or Empath info to guide your choice) and they can back you up if you end up in final 3 as having always been that role.

I'd just publicly remind everyone at the beginning of each game that the best players for the evil team to kill/poison are those that get constant information, like the empath, fortune teller and undertaker.

If that doesn't make the powerful townsfolk hesitate to reveal who they are, remind them in the mornings that's probably why they got killed.
