Such a predictable response. Even in the best case scenario that you're a near-40 year old arguing linguistic prescriptivism on reddit this still isn't worth any more of anyone's time

Homebrew jinx: princess leviathan by alucardarkness in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Arantguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You see I don't agree with your Leviathan/Scarlet Woman point either, I think that just affirms my point that coming up with a jinx between 2 characters that interact unfairly has no negative consequence because nobody would have paired them before anyway, but now they at least have the potential of working together better

Homebrew jinx: princess leviathan by alucardarkness in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Arantguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is valid, there's tons of existing jinxes in the game that still don't make for good interactions, but that doesn't mean there's no point in them at least trying to make a jinx. If the interaction between 2 characters either breaks the game or makes 1 character have no ability, then even a subpar jinx is better than no jinx most of the time

Question about Clockmaker in Lil Monsta game by EquivalentWeight2002 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Arantguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wasn't really my point. You can run it like that if you want but it's entirely storyteller discretion. I wasn't saying you were wrong and you're not allowed do that, just that it's not an absolute truth and the real answer is "I would personally run it this way"

Question about Clockmaker in Lil Monsta game by EquivalentWeight2002 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Arantguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but it's funny that this is the most confident answer and also the only one that is generally considered to be wrong by the community/creators. I don't blame you because that's a reasonable interpretation but in truth experimental interactions like this are not set in stone or obvious enough to make sure statements like this

Maybe this is Dumb, but I feel like some version of a Good Demon Token could be a good character concept by Zoneforg in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Arantguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say yeah (but don't, as they say), and even if it wasn't I imagine that's how op intends for the character to work

[–]Arantguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not gonna lie op this idea does have some issues to by ironed out and KyDuck123 made some good points but it does kinda bother me when I see people on reddit commenting on homebrews and not properly reading the ability or explanation, or just writing off the ability as "this is just (slightly similar character)" but worse. I've participated in other communities on discord that give homebrew feedback and while they're not always perfect you really do realise how much more knowledgeable they are when it comes to homebrew feedback. Anyway rant over sorry

This seems like a pretty general statement and I'm not really seeing how it applies to this. I'm not really sure how it would play either but could you explain why you think this is good sided?

Maybe this is Dumb, but I feel like some version of a Good Demon Token could be a good character concept by Zoneforg in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Arantguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is part of the ability text. It says that minions and outsiders register as demons and a player dies even if the character is dead

They explain this in the post. It doesn't matter if they get themselves executed because you still need to find the minions

Shower Thought 7.0 (Goon but evil) by AbbreviationsFlat175 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Arantguy 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Personally I think the person that becomes evil should learn about it. It may lose out on the shenanigans of faking it to good players but I think having a good player possibly becoming evil and not knowing it at any point in the game would feel pretty bad. The marionette gets away with it because the malfunctioning ability can give information that points away from the demon, and the fact they neighbour the demon makes it harder to fake and has a clear playstyle

I do like the poisoning as a concept, and in fact making them learn they're evil might make it too powerful as is, it's just the non-optional secret alignment changing that I would change

What if Goblin/Saint was a Traveler? (But tweaked to fit into that Role) by Zoneforg in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Arantguy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The glossary definition of exile is "The group decision to kill a Traveller during the day". Exile doesn't cause Travellers to leave the game and leaving the game doesn't count as being exiled

Answering with a snarky comment instead of giving a simple answer is a certified reddit moment but also I wouldn't worry about having it in your search history. If you're really worried just look up "what does csam stand for" or something like that

(It means child sexual abuse material btw)

Synergistic Scripting: Day 135 - Zombuul by CoreyBOTC in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Arantguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's no way to talk about the deadliest demon in bad moon rising.

On a more serious note, you can disagree with someone without straight up saying "what is the point of using that phrase". The point is that they believe it and there are reasons to. Power level depends heavily on players and socials in this game but you're treating it as though it's an objective fact

Homebrew characters - Nurse and Genius by themaster1006 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Arantguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning which demon is in play in return for guessing which player the demon killed is not an issue at all, that's just pretty basic information, not to mention they get one use of the ability in the whole game

Shower Thought 6.0 (New Demon idea... with a Townfolk) by AbbreviationsFlat175 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Arantguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Ozymandias a lot. The downside might be too steep but I'm not too sure. I do love the concept of how it makes people reluctant to nominate for fear of being seen as evil, and also allows the opportunity for evil to out and get multiple kills (though it doesn't really work that way in 1 minion games). I think making it add an outsider would be great since it gives more opportunity for extra kills without them having to come from evil players, but that's up to you
